Publisher's summary

When Ellery moved to New York with her boyfriend, she thought they’d live happily ever after in their small New York apartment. She never thought he’d pack his bags and leave because he “needed space”.

With her newfound single status and fear of being alone, Ellery buries herself in her artwork and paintings until one night she helps a mysterious intoxicated stranger get home safely. Little did she know the mysterious stranger is none other than CEO and millionaire Connor Black. After finding Ellery in his kitchen the next morning and assuming she broke his #1 rule about sleepovers, he becomes intrigued, not only by her stubbornness and defiance, but by her kindness.

Connor Black, emotionally dead and damaged, stemming from a personal tragedy, made a vow to never love or fall in love with a woman, until Ellery Lane walked into his life by accident. After she opens up and shows him her world, Connor starts to feel emotions and feelings he never knew existed. Despite the rumors and warnings regarding Connor Black and his use and misuse of women, Ellery finds herself being drawn into his world.

Ellery knows they can never be together because she is harboring a deep secret that could destroy Connor emotionally forever. Join Connor and Ellery as they embark on a journey of courage, love and strength. Will it be enough to save them?

Oh no! what happen

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I love this book. This story is worth reading but....I wanted to hear it so I bought the audio version. I disliked the voice of the narrator. Her voice was all wrong and the flow was wrong as she read the book. It made me so sad. This is the first time I dislike a voice on an audio book.

****For those of you who are reading this I tell you that the book is good don't let this version of audio discourage you from reading it. Ellery and Connor are precious. The story has a strong story line and the love is beautiful. Ellery does what she wants and does not let anyone boss her around.

everything happened to quickly.

I felt L was immature was always starting fights and running when things didn't go her way. They fell in love pretty quick even though Connor said he doesn't do relationships. They where suppose to be friends with benefits but right away L was questioning Connor about women in his life.

AN ENTERTAINING & VERY ADDICTIVE LISTEN

I see that this book has very mixed reviews so I guess it's not for everyone but I really enjoyed it. Right from the start it drew me in with it's secrets, it's twists, it's damaged characters, it's heartache and it's bitter-sweet love story.

I loved the sexy misunderstood drool-worthy Hero Connor once he opened up and the feisty, funny Heroine Ellery however she did sometimes annoy me with her quick to judge attitude later in the story. There was fun, intrigue, character growth, mild sex and some really touching scenes as they both began to open up and accept each other and let trust and love in.

Worth the credit? It was a bit 'choppy' in places, the friend's voice was too high and there was a few things that weren't explained but I easily overlooked them as I was enjoying the listen so much.... so YES another creditworthy listen.

Great Love Story

Great listen! I couldn't stop. I think I listened to the series in the span of four days. I fell in love with all of the characters in the story and I got so wrapped up in them. It was a total shocker when you find out why Ellery and her boyfriend really broke up. I wasn't expecting that turn of events. Ellery is one of my favorite characters. She is honest, free, and strong. Connor is intriguing and mysterious, and you want to keep reading to figure out what makes him tick.

mixed feelings

I am a bit torn about this book. I think the story line was really sweet and drew me in enough that it had me wanting to know what happened with the characters. Yet at the same time some of it felt way off. At one point the characters were apart for what they made seem like weeks, but when you follow the story line it couldn't be more than a week. And there were parts that just felt like it should have been more developed to be where it was at.

Overall it is one of those first in a series that leaves me curious as to what happens next but not rushing to buy the next book.

I will also say that the format I used for this book was the audible version, and I felt it was well read.

So Emotionally Charged.

So emotionally charged, it's more than just another love story. The dual narration added to the story telling.

Everyone wants to cash in on the Shades of Gray.

Okay chick-lit for a beach read. But if you leave it on the sand and the tide sweeps it away, not to worry. You haven't lost too much and you probably figured out the ending in the first few chapters,

sadly way too graphic sex

What would have made Forever Black better?

I enjoyed the story until it become all about sex, graphic sex. Had that been left to a minimum I would have been much happier. I had to fast forward half the book!

Would you ever listen to anything by Sandi Lynn again?

no way

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Forever Black?

all the sex scenes!
