Joe Cantrell, owner of the Gansett Island Ferry Company, has been in love with Janey McCarthy for as long as he can remember. At the same time, Janey has been dating or engaged to doctor-in-training David Lawrence. When things go horribly wrong between David and Janey, she calls her "fifth brother" Joe, one of the few people in her close circle who lives on the mainland. Janey decides a few days with Joe is just what she needs before she goes home to the island to face her parents and family with the news of her broken engagement.
It was bad enough for Joe loving Janey from afar, but having her in his house is pure torture. Will he take advantage of this opportunity to show her what they could have together? And what will Joe’s best friend and Janey’s protective older brother Mac have to say about it?

This book is a welcome addition to the Gansett Island series and Joe and Jenny every bit as engaging as characters introduced in the previous books. I particularly enjoyed the fact that while this listen focuses on Joe and Jenny it also includes the ongoing story of other characters in the series. Unfortunately the narration is just as bad as in the previous books.
Way too long for the story, I did not think this book would ever end,.
No. I have not rated many books below 3 stars.
There was not enough distinction in voice between the characters and the whispered voice was annoying.
I don't think I would try another book from these authors. The story was nice, although predictable, but the sex scenes were way too detailed and unnecessary.
I like romance books but without all the detailed sex and a little bit of an unexpected story line.
I would cut the detailed sex scenes.
Great story love the series but the narration makes it impossible to listen to. Already read this a couple of years ago and decided to get it with narration. I couldn't listen to much because the main male character is read in the same voice as the main female character Who's idea was that. Too creepy for me, especially in a love scene
I almost had to stop listening more than once. Holly Fielding is the worst narrator and though Jo and Janie's story was sweet, getting past Fielding's breathy, awful delivery was really hard to do, which was a shame.
Another great love story! Starts out steamy and ends that way, too! Love all the characters and that they appear in multiple books in the series. Great consistency by the author. Can't wait to listen to book 3! Gave 4 stars because the narrator sometimes stumbles on her words. 5 stars for the story!
Second time listening - still puts a smile on my face. Janie & Joe are adorable together. And the McCarthy family is amazing!
Such a cute love story. Boy loves girl almost all her life. Girl grows up falls for someone else. Devastated over breakup. Boy, now man, gets his chance. Sweet!
I decided to get this audiobook after finishing Maid for Love. Although each of these books can be read/listened to as stand-alone books, Fool for Love focuses on characters that I became attached to in Maid for Love. Additionally, the central characters' story in Maid for Love continues in Fool for Love. I decided ahead to only invest in these first two books of the series. I thoroughly enjoyed both audiobooks, especially Maid for love.
