Publisher's summary

From the number-one New York Times best-selling author, a novel about three very different women who become friends while seeking refuge in an old beach house.

Sometimes all you can do is fly away home....

When Sylvie Serfer met Richard Woodruff in law school, she had wild curls, wide hips, and lots of opinions. Decades later, Sylvie has remade herself as the ideal politician’s wife—her hair dyed and straightened, her hippie-chick wardrobe replaced by tailored knit suits. At 57, she ruefully acknowledges that her job is staying twenty pounds thinner than she was in her twenties and tending to her husband, the senator.

Lizzie, the Woodruffs’ younger daughter, is at 24 a recovering addict, whose mantra HALT (Hungry? Angry? Lonely? Tired?) helps her keep her life under control. Still, trouble always seems to find her. Her older sister, Diana, an emergency room physician, has everything Lizzie failed to achieve—a husband, a young son, the perfect home—and yet she’s trapped in a loveless marriage. With temptation waiting in one of the ER’s exam rooms, she finds herself craving more.

After Richard’s extramarital affair makes headlines, the three women are drawn into the painful glare of the national spotlight. Once the press conference is over, each is forced to reconsider her life, who she is and who she is meant to be.

Very good!

Thank you for including an unabridged version of this book. I love JW and have been very unhappy that her books have been abridged.

if you are looking for refreshing substance...

here it is. Rather a deeper story that has both insight and a soulful perspective where otherwise novels often fall short on depth.

The narrator is very good for this story.

Well written, spoken and is a contemporary picture of modern family and social issues with a hue of elegance.

Excellent First Audible Book

I was looking for ways to make my new hour long commute less stressful and thought I'd try audible with my new GPS. I chose Fly Away Home because I really like Jennifer Weiner's books. Judith Light did an excellent job of telling the story and I felt like I knew each character as a friend. I would often sit in my car at lunch to continue hearing her tell the story. I couldn't wait to get in the car!

Well Written

JWeiner has written a story applicable to this time. I thought this could be another "downer" book that leaves you feeling abused but her delivery is so well done, it doesn't happen because you can feel the strength of her characters. You can relate in some way with each of these women..even the male characters. I savored this story. Well narrated...Thank you

I simple enjoyed this book

There were no surprising plot twists. This was a plain, simple story that I could have outlined before I stared listening. And yet, I thoroughly enjoyed the book. I kept thinking, I know what's going to happen next...and it did...and yet I hated to leave the story behnd in my car when I got to my destination. The characters were developed nicely and the story was well-told. I have loved Judith Light since I was young and she was in the soaps. I think she did a fabulous job narrating this. I am a fan of Jennifer Weiner's work and this further solidified my like of her work!!!

I thought I was reading Danielle Steel

The wife/mother character could have been ripped from a Danielle Steel novel. It was missing Jennifer's usual depth and humor.

Bravo Judith Light

The narration of this books is absolutely perfect, it almost doesn’t matter what the story is about. The story is good too though.

Predictable

The book was just not what I expected when I ordered it. It was plain and ordinary. I was surprised by nothing, and saw every turn from around the corner. Just wanted to finish it so I could select something a little meatier.

Nothing

I honestly was excited to listen to this book and I honestly just couldn’t get into this book. I continued to listen to it just trying to get into it.
