"Michael Taylor is an enthusiastic and spirited storyteller. He draws on a seemingly limitless store of voices for the many characters." (AudioFile)
If you. like. the way. I punctuate. you will. love the. narration.
Michael Taylor is a terrible narrator. I literally would get a pressure headache with the way he reads the story. He was four voices: Deep and slow, pausing between EVERY word; His normal voice which would do fine reading a newspaper; a high-pitched, whiney voice, like that of an old miner from '49 gold rush; and a Minnesota grandma voice (don'cha knoo). His voice is an injustice to an audible subscriber and to this book. I feel ripped-off.
The narration is AWFUL. I did read the other reviews before I purchased this book; I just thought that people were being too picky and critical. Nope. It is just threat bad. Imagine listening to a brain damaged William Shatner reading a book out loud for the first time - not the first time out loud, the first time EVER... for 16 HOURS. I made it through 20 minutes and quit. SERIOUSLY.
I ran across this story by accident, but I really, really enjoyed this story. I can't wait until my boys are bigger so I can read it to them. It took while to get used to the narrator - too many pregnant pauses. But I still had a good time listening to this.
South African living in Australia, love books, travel history. Favourite fiction: The Ice Limit. Favourite History: The Civil War.
Flight to Eden rank under those books I would listen to again and again every few years or so. Its creative view of the beginning of history is so believable, its becomes as real as watching the news. For Christians and sceptics alike, its a great book!
Rone is perhaps the most fictional character with his extra ordinary size and strength, but given the competition, he turns out to be a very useful guy to have around! He puts a bit of "action thriller" into to a story with otherwise very normal characters.
The narration is absolutely atrocious. Though the narrator has a great voice and sounds like the type of friend one should have, his voice is incapable of variation that does not sound forced. NOBODY, not an angel, or demon, man or women is likely to speak with the tone and cadence of his characters.Their voices almost make one dislike them. In fact it does. This narrator is an unfortunate choice for an - admittedly - difficult job.
This is the first review I ever wrote, because I would very much like to send a copy to some friends. But like me, they may make many false starts because the narration does not draw one to keep listening. As this is the second time Im listening to the series, I know the narrator was changed in the rest of the series. Perhaps the first book could be re- narrated? I will buy it!
Its a fascinating story and I would love to hear what happened after the flood...
I almost didn't purchase this book because of the poor reviews on the narration, but I noticed that there was a different narrator for the other books in the series and I thought the content looked interesting. I am glad I did purchase it.The narration was truly horrible, easily the worse that I've heard on Audible, but by the end of the first half of the download I had grown somewhat numb to it. The story itself was really good. I liked the way the author set real, believable characters in a plausible representation of the pre-flood world. I found the read thought provoking and enjoyable. I guess you could buy the book and bypass the narration, but either way, it was worth the purchase price.
I loved this book. In fact i'm going to go buy the book and read it i loved listening to it so much. It made me laugh, cry, and really use my imagination with all the ( well i don't want to give it away) so i just recommend if u like a great listen that has journies in it i say get this book.
The reader was horrible

It's a good story even if your not a believer in God. If you can't get past it being that it is fiction I feel sorry for your Library. It's gonna miss out on some good and entertning story's
I HAVE BEEN AN AUDIOPHILE FOR 20 YEARS AND THIS STORY IS A WORTHY LISTEN. THE NARRATOR TRANSPORTS THE LISTENER IN TO THE AUTHOR'S SPACE IN TIME AND AN HOUR SEEMS FILLED TO THE BRIM, ALMOST BEYOND 60 MINUTES. THERE IS THE MAGIC. THANK YOU. I WILL DO IT AGAIN.
