Stephen King's "gem of a story" (Chicago Tribune) about a child with extraordinary psychic powers who is on the run from the government. A number-one national best seller.
Andy McGee and Vicky Tomlinson participated in a drug experiment run by a veiled government agency known as The Shop. One year later, they marry. Two years later, their little girl, Charlie, sets her teddy bear on fire by simply staring at it.
Now that Charlie is eight, she doesn't start fires anymore. Her parents have taught her to control her pyrokinesis, the ability to set anything - toys, clothes, even people - aflame. But The Shop knows about and wants this pigtailed "ultimate weapon". Shop agents set out to hunt down Charlie and her father in a ruthless chase that traverses the streets of New York and the backwoods of Vermont.
"Terrifying and gripping" (The Miami Herald) Firestarter is chilling proof that "Stephen King is superb" (Time).

Stephen King has an odd way of making you so involved and become the characters in his books. Once this book finally climaxed, I was excited, shocked, sad, and confused. Definitely a roller coaster and I highly recommend it.
What a great story.. I absolutely was not expecting this book to be this friggin GOOD !
I turned it on at 6:30 am on my way to the shop (wink wink) and listened for 14 hours straight.. I just wish it was longer. Seemed like there were no slow parts it just moves along at a good pace.. One of a kind.
Buy it !!!!!!
This was incredible Non-Stop! you can't help but fall in love with the characters their personalities their gifts their hearts the power of that little girl great novel one of the best!! and over all the power of love.
King has written several brilliant books and even more great books: the brriliant books are those where he risks: here he has created a cast of contradictory meaningful characters. Rainbird and Cap among King's most complete and original villains. So glad I revisited this book! He also indulges in some lovely lyrical "New Yorker prose . I love Dennis Boudsikaris but his Rainbird is the worst. He uses the same accent he used for Leo in Child 44 . I'm not usually picky but it's unfortunate because Rainbird is a great example of Kingworking with American stereotypes.
The end of sentences are clipped off abruptly. I had to stop listening about half way into the book. This happens only to SK books I purchase. The Long Walk, Firestarter and IT have this issue. SK and audible are not giving these these books away and the problem has been reported many times from customers. When will it be fixed?
King has a way with his readers. He pulls us in with characters we love and want to fight for. This is one of my favorite Stephen King novels and the narrator is fantastic.
