I have read every King book...many of them 2 or 3 or even more times. Just to savor every little nuance. But what I'm finding with the audio books is there almost another level of understanding, of being immersed into the story. It was like reading/hearing it for the first time....again. Firestarter was a great listen.
This audio book is excelent! No slow spots no fillers good all the way through, and narrated very well.
I have been listening to books on tape for over 20 years. Starting with audio tapes, then CD's and now downloads.
As a Stephen King fan I love to listen to his books. Even though I am a member of the Los Angeles Library and can download books for free I cannot find enough of the books I love, like Mr. King. I was not disappointed in this book. This book is a Classic King with a great main character and great Bad guy. The performance was also very good. I believe this is one of his top ten written stories.
Dennis Boutsikaris does a great job narrating this book.
When the Shop catches up with Charlie and Andy at the Manders farm.
Dennis Boutsikaris does a good job expressing the emotions of the characters.
While I would have loved to listen to this book in one sitting the length makes it difficult unless you are taking a long car ride (or flight).
Absolutely worth your time, especially for those who enjoy the Bachman books. I've read this one at least five times, and I've only had it for about a year. The book does lack the sort of poetic style I find prevalent (and enjoyable) in the Bachman books, it more than makes up for it by presenting a believable, gritty, and a more or less unforgiving world.
This constantly underlines how high the stakes are in this story, it tells you with utter certainty that the protagonists may not succeed, that the entire point of the story, as is the case with many of the Bachman books, may be that sometimes the bad guys win.
If you're a King, or just interested in his work, this one, as well as Salem's Lot would be an excellent place to start.
One of Stephen king's best works. I was totally blown away by the amazing story told about a girl and the close relationship she has with her father. Narrater's overall tone was totally on point. In every way possible, this amazing story will fail to disappoint. What are you waiting for? Purchase it already.
I did love this book, the love a father for his little girl and her love for him is told very well. They are all they have. And the vulnerability of a child who has had everything taken from her, is told very well. You see it, there in the dark. Although she is smart and has good instincts she is still just a lonely little girl. But even after that she is strong enough to trust again.
I always smile when a name comes up that has been in another of Stephen Kings other books, I like it best when it's a character I like, but either way I like to catch that and tell myself who that was and what book that character is from. Patric Hocksteader from It. I didn't like him in that book either.
Woof woof, bark. Woof grrrr, bark!
The book had good pacing and a handful of good characters. While not the usual stable of odd folk that usually inhabit Kings works, the small cast lent a tight focus to a story well delivered by Dennis B. Recommended!
yes I enjoyed the layout of the story and the climax
I like that It reminded me just how good King was in his prime.
yes just fine
I think it is a movie
