Publisher's summary

The USA Today best-selling author of You Slay Me, Katie MacAlister is a resounding hit with fans who find her vivacious heroine, Aisling Grey, one hot ticket. After making some amusing on-the-job blunders, Aisling squirms out of a sticky situation using her powers as a Keeper to the Gates of Hell. As if her list of new duties wasn't already a drag, she's got to keep her career as a courier on track - and lately things haven't quite gelled on that front either.
Spend some more time with Aisling Grey.

I love this series!

Katie MacAlister has written a great romp. I love the humor and fun. Barbara Rosenblat does a wonderful job with the different voices. She really helps the book come to life. I wish more of this author's work was available.

I'm having a hard time with the voice!

I read the first book in this series so listening to this one has been less enjoyable. The narrator sounds like an older lady who smokes and is from New Jersey not a younger person from Portland, Oregon. It's enough of a distraction that I won't be purchasing any more of the audio books in this series.

Annoying heroine

Book 2 was much better for me. There was a tad less whining from Aisling. She begin to show a bit of growth around chapter 8. However, the next time something she didn't understand she immediately got in a "huff" and started with the name calling and threats to Drake or whomever. It was old in book 1 more so now. I enjoyed the mystery(s) in this book much more than 1. the story ended the same as 1. Aisling is so far more trouble than she's worth.

Amazing narrator

Barbara Rosenblat is simply the best narrator ever!! Her performance (which can never be called reading) is beyond anything experienced with any other narrator.

Fun, quirky characters and well built settings.

Only problem I have is.that the author doesn't describe her main cjaracters but relies on readers having read earlier books.

Fun urban fantasy, okay romance

Thankfully, the narrator stepped back from the mic; I didn’t notice any smacks or slurps and could instead enjoy the insane amount of zingy, over the top accents in this second installment. Aisling heads to the supernatural G.O.D.T.aM. convention (yes, the T is often silent 😜), and once again finds herself in the midst of murder.

This book sees forward and backward progress in her romance with Drake. Frankly, the romance side is sillier than the mystery hijinks. Drake continues to be cryptic and Aisling continues to charge forward with actions while ignorant of their consequences among the dragon community. It makes for a contrived, unnecessary soap opera. I would have preferred the romance side to have settled them as a couple, so they could support each other in the murder investigation. Instead, the romance ends on a cliffhanger, continuing the on again, off again tease to the next book.

On the mystery side, the slapstick worked better for me. I got quite a kick out of the incubus appearances. I loved the running gags about Aisling trying to obtain her Guardian credentials. The banality of supernaturals networking at a convention also made for fun times. And let’s not forget scene stealer Jim, the Newfoundland-demon dog.
“Dammmit Jim, I’m a Guardian, not a doctor!”

Hot Flashes

Another great story with Aisling and her crew.Things heat up even more in this second installment in the series between Aisling and Drake.Aisling is on everyone’s wanted list, she has an amulet that makes her irresistible to men,so between a dozen incubi and the dragon council and the local authorities, she’s in high demand. The story moves forward to her next chapter, becoming the apprentice to the guardian Nora in London. So once again,Aisling takes charge of her own destiny and makes some exciting and some difficult decisions.Loving the series.
