Publisher's summary

The unmissable and highly anticipated new literary thriller from the author of the international phenomenon The Girl with All the Gifts.

Fellside is a maximum security prison on the edge of the Yorkshire Moors. It's not the kind of place you'd want to end up. But it's where Jess Moulson could be spending the rest of her life.

It's a place where even the walls whisper.

And one voice belongs to a little boy with a message for Jess.

Will she listen?

Compelling, slow burn, totally worth it!

I'm so glad I downloaded this book! It's a slow burn - it draws you in bit by bit and picks up speed as it goes. I didn't find the characters especially compelling right away, but I still couldn't put it down. Pretty soon, I was sitting in my car in the driveway, not wanting to get out because I wanted to listen to just a few more minutes. Every time I thought I had the plot figured out, it surprised me! It's like it just kept unfolding into something new I never saw coming.

The narrator does an amazing job of bringing the story to life.

It's a very different type of story than The Girl With All The Gifts. But I loved both. The author builds a rich world and complex characters. He tells a story that is at once fantastic and relatable.

Raw. Horribly Beautiful. Simply Unforgettable.

Depravity, despair, and redemption. Cruelty and sacrifice woven together in a tapestry of emotion you won't soon forget. Sweet dreams...

Character building like no other.

I LOVE that every guess I made was wrong! Do not listen right after "Girl" or "Boy" because this isn't like those two. I waited a few months after l listened to Boy on a Bridge on a friend's suggestion, and was entralled. Carey and Williams are about as good as it gets.

Fresh and Unusual Tale!

I enjoyed every minute of the story! I don’t want to offer any spoiler so I will just say I am recommending Fellside to all my friends!

Flinty Williams voice seems to have been made for telling of this book. Just the right sound for the content!

Style imagination and detail

Fellside - from the author of The Girl with all the Gifts
I am loving the writing style. Neither book was a genre I normally listen too and both were great. Both have reveals that make me not want to say too much, but both are great in there own way.
I can't sit through an episode of Orange is the new Black or SVU but l know many love them. If you're one you might love this book even more then me!
Story 5/5
Narration 5/5
I didn't hear a thing, the narrator allowed me to visualize the entire book
Can't wait for what's next.

Love MR Carey and Finty Williams

Together they make for an amazing story and performance. The Girl With All the Gifts sucked me right in, and this book was no different. I definitely recommend it.

Great!

Takes a while to get into it but once you do it's really so interesting. It's hard to put it down. The whole theme of it is so different but that seems to be the way with all of Carey's books. They are all so wildly different and so engrossing!

Worth the listen

Any additional comments?

I listened to this book shortly after listening to The Girl With All The Gifts. It is a completely different story. It has a twisted story line with interesting character relationships. Some parts are hard to listen to due to the details, but it doesn't take away from the overall listen. This one was well worth the time.
