The dynamic Andrews couple has done it again!

I was seriously skeptical about reading a series by IA that didn't involve Kate Daniels but I purchased the first one on sale. I am so glad I did after the first chapter I stopped mourning the loss of Kate and started really enjoying the new world.
R.Raudman is wonderful as usual.
Don't dismiss this series it is a whole new world and I am really enjoying it!

Not a Stand alone book

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

It was a bit slow for me at first, then I settled in and enjoyed hearing about a few characters from past books in this series.

What other book might you compare Fate's Edge to and why?

this is the third book in a series

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

I hated the voice for Cerise, really bugged me.

Any additional comments?

I am a huge fan of the Kate Daniels series written by Ilona Andrews

Not Your Typical Fantasy Genre (which is GOOD!)

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, if they are interested in the fantasy/romance/action genre.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Fate's Edge?

That would be the one thing that made no sense to me. Her decision to help her father one last time with a job she knew was extremely dangerous & would likely ruin everything she had rebuilt her life to be. When he chose getting her to do the job over having a daughter, she should've told him to sod off. Of course, then there wouldn't be a story, so it was necessary to the plot, but I would've liked to have had it be more believable.

Did Renée Raudman do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

I'm not a fan of her female southern voice (didn't like whoever did the Sookie Stackhouse series either). I found the lead character's voice annoying. Her male voices weren't the best either.

If you could take any character from Fate's Edge out to dinner, who would it be and why?

Well, I'd rather the male lead took me out to dinner instead! Duh! The mythical 'good' bad boy! Handsome, ripped, lethal, smart, multi-talented & secretly good hearted.

Any additional comments?

The world in the Edge Series is different from most fantasy romance stereotypes. It's a lot more interesting & non traditional. It spans mundane & magic worlds with an outcast realm in between (hence the "Edge"). It's heavier on the action than the romance, which I also like. It can be a bit brutal - the Edge/magic sides are violent & the bad guys are really, really nasty. The female/male lead relationships are still pretty formulaic, but her characters & her world is intersting. Her side characters get a fair bit of exposure & I like the stories of the two boys. I remember them from the 1st book (not sure if I've read #2). Characters from previous books have parts in the following ones & I like that. I'm looking forward to the series continuing with the boys becoming adults & starring in their own book.

It just gets better and better!!!!

This was such a great read/listen. As I said in my previous review on Bayou's Edge, the story continues to tie in to what we already know while at the same time adding more. I love Caulder and Audrey's story.

I definitely don't want to give too much away but I will say the authors left the impression that there are possibly more books to come and I sure hope so! I am sooo sad to see this series end because I became enamored.

This book could be a stand alone and while you may begin the series at book #3, why would you? You'd just be robbing yourself. Bottome line, read this series!

Worth the time spent

This book had me on the edge of my seat from the beginning to the end. The only thing I wish was different was that they were finally able to be rid of the spider. This guy has more lives than a cat, its very frustrating .

Excellent Intertwining of Characters & Story Lines

Ilona Andrews does a remarkable job building on story lines and interweaving characters together. The stories are adventurous and fun. They keep you guessing and eager for more. This story was no exception. It continues to build as it develops and intertwines the story lines.

Excellent addition to the Edge Series

What made the experience of listening to Fate's Edge the most enjoyable?

I loved the narrator and the story itself.

What did you like best about this story?

The characters were so real ... as was the universe they were in.

Have you listened to any of Renée Raudman’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have and I absolutely LOVE her .. she's one of my favorites. This was as good as any I've heard.

Who was the most memorable character of Fate's Edge and why?

There can never be just one ... the characters of this series are ALL memorable. They are real, they are flawed but they are loveable. You want to get behind them and you feel as invested in the story and the outcome as you do your most favored television shows.

Any additional comments?

I can't WAIT for the next one!!

Great blending of imagination and narration

I sometimes think that I could absorb all the characters better if I read this series, however I would miss Renee Raudman's wonderful narration. She has these books down to a T, bringing everyone to life. The story is so full of characters and different realms that I do have trouble keeping up with the story at times, but I'm not complaining as I really have enjoyed all the books so far. With all the adults getting hooked up in the end, my favorites are still Jack and George, Rose's brothers from the first book. They have endured and grown throughout the series. Again Renee brings these two to life, making them totally adorable little boys, with their own special talents and problems.
Treat yourself to this unique series, you won't be disappointed.

Awesome book. Loved it!

I really love this book. I actually love the whole series but of the books so far this one is my fave of the series. Kaldar is awesome and Audrey is perfect for him. Add in a interesting and fun story with lots of action and it just made this a great book!

Audrey grew up in a family of con artists but tries to go straight. She didn't like her life with her family and left it 4 years before. Unfortunately, her family wouldn't leave her alone and came asking for help. She didn't want to but did help them with a job in an effort to get her family to leave her alone permanently. This doesn't work out too well when the item they stole ends up attracting a lot of attention. Audrey tries to go back to her life after the job but ends up getting tracked down by Kaldar.

Kaldar works for "The Mirror" (a secret agency) and is assigned the job of finding the item that was stolen. This leads him to Audrey. He's surprised by her and intrigued to find a woman that has such great skills in his area of expertise (cons and various unhanded skills, lol). He manages to convince her to help find the item as it could cause a lot of destruction if it fell in to the wrong hands. There's also another issue with poor Kaldar's mission because 2 boys, Jack and George (sort of related to him by marriage and from the previous books) decide to stow away with him on his mission. By the time they're found he can't turn back.

This is a very interesting story. The action is pretty constant because they're working against the clock to get the item in time. During this whole thing the attraction between Audrey and Kaldar grows and they struggle with the attraction and figuring out where this will go between them. I loved the banter between them and I was so happy when they finally got to somewhere real.

This was a great story. It had all the good elements for me...romance, action, humor all wound up with interesting characters. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series. I'd highly recommend this book. 2 thumbs up!!! :)
