Gemma Garvey’s marriage has been over for ages. And it was Gemma’s choice to end it; her decision to go it alone with two kids, rather than pretend the marriage to career-obsessed David was working.
So why is she so upset when he marries that flame-haired bimbo, Orla O’Neill? Is it that Orla’s nearer in age to Gemma’s teenage daughter than to herself? But for Orla, being wife number two isn’t all she’d imagined. And the trouble has only just begun.

I have read every book that audible offers from this author. I have enjoyed all of her books but this was my favorite. I wasn't sure how this story would end and I have to confess it didn't end the way I expected it would but I was not disappointed. I also enjoyed the narration by Kate Binchy. Would highly recommend this book.
I have not read the print version, but have read many books by Flanagan. This is my first audio version of a novel by Ms. Flanagan and I was not disappointed. Kate Binchy really brought the story to life.
Not really, but only because I so looked forward to listening to it in the car while on my way to work. I wanted to make it last!
"Couldn't take the narration!"
I really like this author. However, I couldn't get beyond chapter 9 of the audiobook due to the narration. Kate Binchy sounded to be in her 60s (my apologies if this isn't the case). I found her voice destracting as the main protagonists are in their 30s, one is 24. To me it sounded too incongruous and I could not enjoy it.
"Not bad, but not a classic Sheila O'Flanagan"
I've listened to a few Sheila O'Flanagan books and have always enjoyed them, although this was a bit heavy on the romance for my taste.
I struggled with the narrator's voice as her tone sounded old for the young characters.
