Publisher's summary

Award-winning author Ernest Hill—who Pulitzer Prize winner Robert Olen Butler called “one of our finest writers”—has drawn favorable comparisons to Richard Wright and Ralph Ellison with his powerful novels. Hill’s Family Ties tells the story of D’Ray Reid, who has put prison behind him and wants to repair his broken relationship with his mother. But when D’Ray comes home, lies and legal troubles haunt his every move.

Excellent read.

Would you consider the audio edition of Family Ties to be better than the print version?

I actually thought the audio version was equally good as the printed version.

What other book might you compare Family Ties to and why?

I'm not sure, because I have listened to so many titles that its hard to compare. But I will
Say I absolutely love stories where the main character has had a troubled and dangerous past, turns around makes the right decision in his and his family's life and finds love along the way. I love stories of redemption.

Which character – as performed by Korey Jackson – was your favorite?

Dray was my favorite.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No! It was just very enjoyable.

Any additional comments?

To Ernest Hill just keep turning them out. Big Mike.
