The McCarthys of Gansett Island Series: Book 4
Since he won the Academy Award for best original screenplay a few years ago, Grant McCarthy's personal and professional lives have fallen apart. Abby, the woman he was supposed to marry, is engaged to someone else, and Grant is back at home on Gansett Island helping to run the family marina business while his father recovers from a serious injury. While all Grant's focus should be on winning back the love of his life, pesky Stephanie, who runs the marina restaurant, is working her way under his skin and into his bed. As Tropical Storm Hailey cuts off Gansett Island from the mainland, Grant suspects Stephanie is hiding something big from her past. When he finds out what it is, what will be more important to him? Winning Abby back or helping Stephanie to right a terrible wrong?

I enjoyed this listen as a welcome addition to the Gansett Island series. There is great chemistry between the main characters, Grant and Stephanie, and a strong connection with characters from other books in the series. Unfortunately the narration lacks expression and does little to bring the characters to life. This series would be much more enjoyable with a different narrator.
Say something about yourself!
Great story and continuation of the McCarthy's family stories.
Stephanie - her story is heart breaking as well as heart warming.
Only with a series. The reader lacks emotion and energy.
This is the first time I've ever written a review....but I had to. The characters in this book are so much fun to get to know. The humor, the twist and turns makes it hard to stop listening. Can hardly wait
to move to the next in the series.
I love the book but the narration is awful
I love how there are new characters added and also how she keeps up with old ones
No...she narrates like a 5 year old. She always sounds like she has a cold and is talking through her nose. She also needs to learn how to pronounce words...it's mainland, not main land!
Big Mac because he's so awesome
I love literature but I also love to read trash.
This is another fairly predictable instalment about the fabulous McCarthy family but Marie Force is drawing on the tools that made her Treading Water series so successful to infuse this story with a bit more grit. The medical disruptions in this one as well as the fairly thorough character development of our heroine makes for a more interesting story than some of the earlier titles in the series.
