Publisher's summary

A chilling and dark fantasy from bestselling author Raymond E. Feist.

Successful screenwriter Phil Hastings decides to move his family from sunny California to a ramshackle farmhouse in New York State. The idea is to take some time out, relax, and pick up the threads of his career as a novelist. Good plan, bad choice. The place they choose is surrounded by ancient woodland. The house they choose is the centrepoint of a centuries-old evil intent on making its presence felt to intruders.

Boring and sleazy.

I had just bought the Magician hardcopy and wanting something in addition for the long vacation road trip decided upon this Audible title by the same author. And its terrible. Sleazy at best, my teenage kids in the car asked to have it switched off after a couple of hours. This book was rather a teen love fantasy done badly than an epic fantasy. 20 chapters into the book and we bored to death and disgusted. I'm asking for a refund.

I was surprised by this book one of Feists earlies

I was surprised by this book, one of Feist's earliest, it was nothing like the Pug ones, but it was worth the credit I can tell you that. I will never think of the fairy folk in the same way again. It is one of the creepiest books I have ever listen to. Forget King and Koontz, the fairies are spookier, it is a very descriptive book, and it makes you think, where did all the stories come from, you know, the Tooth Fairy, the Leprechaun and even Elves, they are all here, but watch out, they are none of them nice.
