"Why do you want to be a boat builder?"
"Because," said Morwenna, "I like the way the boats grow."
Morwenna and Corwin are eight years old, wind-swept and salty-haired twins growing up on the Devon coast. In the soft autumn light, they play as their grandfather, Matthew, watches the boats come in. But it is a day unlike any other.
Bringing Stan In is the short-story prequel to The House at the Edge of the World by Julia Rochester. If you liked this, you’ll love the full-length novel.

Audio books are growing. I have listened to books for months now, But I prefer my books in paperback/hardback format.
I decided to give this free chapter audio book a try might as well I mean figure I listen to it and see how it is. I thought this book was an okay book to listen to .
Loving books :) Quick and honest reviews.
The story seemed to short. It was also hard to get into.
she did great. However, when she started acting out the different characters it got awkward. She has a great natural voice with a pleasant accent.
I really enjoyed listening to this story. Julia Rochester wrote a story of life in a small village from beginning to end in a few selected words.
Without give the plot away it was the perfect ending!
I can listen to Anita Jay's narration all day. She has a smooth, comforting voice . I listen to this story at night instead of white noise to fall asleep. Not because the story isn't entertaining but because it's so easy to listen to it.
I recommend this audio book to anyone who likes well written short stories.
Its a nice short but its feels a little personal like its really only written for one person. Might be good for children to learn from.
A very sad, short story that I think was well written, but was lacking in the character building.
Avita Jay did a great job narrating.
"Short sweet tale of life and death"
A simple tale that tackles how different characters react to a death. The story took a while to get going, but the narration kept me listening. Rather quaint, but not show-stopping.
"poignant and inciteful writing "
a good short listen, invites the listener to understand the characters which are cleverly described.
"Just not my cup of tea"
Well read, nice story but simply not to my taste... I tried it while looking for some kind of self help books in maybe mindfulness or therapy. I am working towards ficton however

"Short and sweet"
Give it a listen, it's only short and it is a lovely little sad story.
"A glimpse of life... And death... By the sea."
A very pleasant little tale that touches on childhood dreams of the future and the experience of creative creation as well as death.
