Everything's Eventual features Dinky Earnshaw - a 19-year-old delivery boy - who gets hired by a mysterious stranger for a unique and totally "eventual" (awesome) job. Read by Justin Long.
Autopsy Room Four. The last thing Howard Cottrell remembers is entering the woods to find his golf ball. He wakes up as he is being rolled into an autopsy room. Read by Oliver Platt.
The Little Sisters of Eluria. Roland is a gunslinger in a deserted town when he gets ambushed. Read by Boyd Gaines.
Luckey Quarter. Darlene is a single mom struggling to raise two kids on her income as a chambermaid in Reno. When Room 322 leaves her a quarter for a tip, Darlene lets that quarter take her for a ride. Read by Judith Ivey.
The Road Virus Heads North tracks an author who buys a creepy painting at a yard sale, which was painted by a metal-head neighbor just before he committed suicide. Read by Jay O. Sanders.
Intense, eerie, and instantly compelling, these five stories announce the stunningly fertile imagination of perhaps the greatest storyteller of our time.
These unabridged selections also appear in the print edition of Everything's Eventual. More unabridged stories from Everything's Eventual are available in Blood and Smoke, Riding the Bullet, LT's Theory of Pets, and The Man in the Black Suit.

"Each of these stories draws the reader into King's slightly off-center world...developing characters and atmosphere more fully in the span of 50 pages than many authors can in a full novel." (Amazon.com)
"The author is not only immensely popular but immensely talented, a modern-day counterpart to Twain, Hawthorne, Dickens...No one does it better." (Publishers Weekly)
3 Excellent Stories. Everything's Eventual, Autopsy Room 4 and The Little Sisters of Auloria (I don't know if I spelled that correctly). The other two are good, but not King's best. The Little Siter's is a must read for Dark Tower fans, which I am. The only complant I have is that there were only 5 stories, where the book has 14. I especially think they should have done The Man in the Black Suit. It is definately worth listening to for the 3 stories mentioned.
I love Stephen King, but this is not his best. Two of the stories are mildly interesting, the others are totally forgetable. Go with "Lisey's Story" instead.
I really, really enjoy King's work. But he tends to get sidetracked and drone on. Short stories seem to be a great way for him to get his bizarre and brilliant ideas out there without feeling the need to fill an entire book.
These tales are brilliantly conceived, executed, and presented; and I will be indulging in more shortly!
The best of the bunch is "Autopsy Room Four," which is so creepy you'll never watch CSI again without thinking about this. Oliver Platt does a great job in reading this. The other stories are OK, but not as memorable as this one.
If you like the Dark Tower series then here is one more story from Roland, as well as the story of another character in endworld....Dinky!! definitely worth the listen!!!
I bought this one before I realized it was abridged... It only includes a small (Unabridged) subset of all of the stories actually in this book, so if you want the WHOLE book, keep looking, it's in the store.. And it, my friend, is worth every penny!
These are some of my favorite short stories by King. After reading them a few years ago I thought it would be nice to listen to them. I was at times disappointed in the narrator but overall they are some of the best shorts.
if you love stephen king you will love this
the recording had a few small glitches
I love the Dark Tower connected stories.
I liked the unusual talent of Dinky Ernshaw. King could've gone with any number of
I choose audiobooks mainly for the author, unless they are read by Frank Muller. After hearing King's Dark Tower series read by Mr. Muller I became a fan.
I only received five of the Everything's Eventual stories, so when I get the rest (apparently there is a second audiobook I have to purchase to get the entire book, WTF) I'll let you know.
I've heard a version of
These five stories vary in quality as much as the quality of the stories. Justin Long is surprising in Dinky's. The Little Sister of Eluria was GREAT and the best introduction to the Dark Tower as you could ask! The Autopsy so so. Lucky Quarter was a unlucky read. I have forgotten the painting all together, but overall well worth the money!
"An enjoyable listen..."
5 stories from King that are classic King. All very different and all narrators do an excellent job.
The stories are of varying length. The 2 longest are the first title 'Everything's Eventual' and the tale of King's gunslinger from the Dark Tower books. The others are short, but not fillers.
If you're considering your first Stephen King audiobook, I'd recommend 'The Shining' before this, but this is pretty good.
