I wouldn't..

Spoilers included, to save you time so you don't listen to this dumpster fire. The author is actually a decent writer, unfortunately she is a horrendous story teller. The MC's girlfriend is captured, beaten, and held to be raped. The MC and his girlfriend escape, with other people. The guy who beat and was going to rape the MC's girlfriend finds them shortly after they escape. What would you do in that scenario? Well, our MC invites him to join their group. He then sends his girlfriend away, alone, with the guy that beat her and was going to rape her so she would be "safe". Also, a dog mutates to become sentient. The dog then immediately knows how to speak perfect English. And it grows wings.. and transforms into a human.. then transforms into a werewolf. Our MC also grows wings and transforms.... into a vampire.. Seriously? The end.

Formulaic, predictable

kind-hearted and misunderstood youth get strange new power, stands up against the forces of evil and protects the innocent. throw in a Little Love story, a band of thugs, and a whole bunch of two-dimensional characters, and you have this story.I don't demand Grand narratives, but at least something enjoyable and kind of suspenseful to pass the time works for me. this doesn't rise to that standard and I couldn't get past the first three hours. even free, it's not worth the listen.

spoilers for the end

the story was good until the final bit were it hopped the track drove off a bridge and crashed into a river when it went from a post apocalyptic scenario where people woke up with interesting powers, to a fight between progenitors of vampires and werewolves.

This would have been fine but for the main character to in my opinion go from an earth mage with an electrical flare to a vampire just made no damn sense.

Had a pretty decent world built until the end....

I enjoyed the book up until the end of the book. I wish the author had kept the world they created rather than derailing the whole store to go after vampires and werewolves.

Umm

I don’t really know what to say about this book. I feel like it is not going anywhere. I also feel like the author did not know what to write or where to take the story. Others might like this book but I had to struggle to get through it.

said in a husky voice

I was tired of hearing "... said in a husky voice" by the end of the 3rd chapter.

Unnecessary repetition is unnecessary.

Alrighty then

Honestly, I thought the idea of being in a storm and developing power what's awesome.
But I have NO idea where the ending came from, and I spent a good hour after I finished it replays ng the ending in my head to make sense of it but I just can't.
Vampires and werewolves?! Dude okay listen, they should have ended the book with the 4 teenagers getting caught in the the storm, the two characters with powers should have gotten a boost and the two without should have gotten them. Bam, sequel where they hunt to down family and kill the beast, perfect set up for another book.
But turning into a werewolf and vampire, honest you lost me and I probably won't bother with the sequel, which is a shame because I feel like this had so much potential.

story was very juvenile.

The story was very juvenile and became very repetitive. The story could have gone in so much more yet it stalled with the main character not progressing into the hero that was being alluded to. With all the narrative being predictable and not moving forward. The main character is not gaining much confidence after each fight. In a main fight he then is running away half way through. The author does not seem to grasp much about multiple participation in a fight. Author sets up a fight then only 2 of the 5 people are in the fight, Odd. Buy at your own risk this book series I will not be buying the next.
