Publisher's summary

What is a man to do after the tragic ending of his loving marriage and a nasty divorce? How does he rediscover the essence that makes him a man after years of being forced to attend ballets, eat vegan food, and participate in intimacy seminars? There is only one way: drink, play, f@#k.

In Drink, Play, F@#k, Bob Sullivan*, a jilted husband, sets off to explore the world, experience a meaningful connection with the divine, and rediscover his passion. His travels lead him from his home in New York City, on a drinking bender across Ireland, through the glitz and glamour that is Las Vegas, and to the hedonistic pleasure palaces of Thailand.

After a lifetime of playing it safe, Mr. Sullivan finally follows his heart and lives out everyone's deepest fantasies. For who among us hasn't dreamed of standing stark naked, head upturned and mouth agape beneath a cascading torrent of Guinness Stout? What could be more exhilarating than losing every penny you have because Charlie Weiss went for a meaningless last second field goal? And what sensate creature could ever doubt that the greatest pleasure known to man can be found in a leaky bamboo shack filled with glassy-eyed, bruised Asian hookers?

Bob Sullivan has a lot to teach us about life. Let's just pray we have the wisdom to put aside our preconceptions and listen. Because what Bob Sullivan finds isn't at all what he expected. Mr. Sullivan's mythic journey is lovingly transcribed by Andrew Gottlieb.

* Bob Sullivan is a pseudonym. Drink, Play, F@#k is a work of fiction and is in no way connected to any books currently on numerous best-seller lists.

Good spoof

It's a guy's take spoof on Eat, Pray, Love, that has a few good bits of wisdom in it. It's fanciful, fiction, and funny. It's not meant to be profound; it's meant to make you smile. Dick Hill gives a talented performance.

just ok!

the book was not as funny as i hoped it would be. Easy read especially with a drink in your hand during your vacation. did not have too much depth but i did not except it anyway. I thought i would laugh my gutt out but i was a bit disappointed. overall not a bad read though.

Entertaining

Would you try another book from Andrew Gottlieb and/or Dick Hill?

Yes, I would.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

It was good. Somewhat unbelievable, but did fit in with the character.

Would you be willing to try another one of Dick Hill’s performances?

This narration almost made me delete the book. The cadence, the tendency to fade to a whisper..and not know what was said without going back...and I just warm to his voice. That said..not likely to repeat the experience.

Was Drink, Play, F@#k worth the listening time?

Yes..

Different take on self-help books

This book was very different from what I expected, it's more a book about temperance then about doing the things in the cover. Very interesting take on a multicultural trip and the lessons it brings.

Drink, Play, F@#k

What was most disappointing about Andrew Gottlieb’s story?

The storytelling seemed lazy and contrived with everything being just too convenient, a sort of “Weekend at Bernies” that will work better on the big screen but that won’t help me get that last 5 hours of my life back and the credit on my audible account.

idiotic, boring, uninspired parody

While I both read and thoroughly enjoyed Eat, Pray, Love, I'm a good sport and I thought this might be fun to read. instead it was unfunny, dry and crass.

Lackin

This book seriously lacks the detail and insight I would expect from a title like this. Just doesn't go into the extreme drinking, playing and F@#kin I was expecting.

painful

Worst book I ever heard. Very self indulgent and insincere. Its like getting stuck on a plain next to some old dude you don't want to talk to without your headphones. The title is misleading at most it is a pg 13 exagerated amd unbelievable tail. I guess having f$&*k and thailand in the title is enough to get published. It worked to get me to listen. Read well but don't waist your time or money.

Probably not the book you think it is...

If you're looking for a fun "male menopause" book, this isn't it.

If you're looking for anything with depth....this isn't it.

The hero is a self involved uninteresting chap with little about him or in him or about him to keep readers glued to the headphones.

After a while it just becomes a tedious waste of time...and there IS no shower in Guinnes, by the way.
