I want to feel good when I complete a story & am a little harsh on depressing ones. There are a few sad ones that I love but not many.

"Great for a Martin fan but not for all"

I really enjoyed hearing Martin tell his story and this thing is fully of short stories. Some of his shorts were really good and left me wanting to hear more and some of them were just so-so but as a whole I enjoyed it very much.
If you are interested in Martins path to fame this paints the picture and includes quite a few shorts from Martin's early career through the mid 80's.

"True and Accurate Anthology of an Author"

As I expected, I enjoyed some stories and did not care much for others. This is an anthology of work by George R.R. Martin covering a good portion of his career. I really enjoyed that each "section" of the book began with the author providing some background on the works about to be read, telling the personal side of the stories. I thought these were at times more entertaining than the stories themselves.

While some were not thrilling or unpredictable, it does not detract from the quality of writing I find with much of Martin's works. Dreamsongs does not disappoint, especially for fans of George R.R. Martin's style of writing.

"An amazing look into G.R.R. Martin"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this book to most of my friends who enjoy descriptive stories.

    Which scene was your favorite?

I enjoyed the Skin Trade best of all the short stories. The wild card stories were interesting and made me curious about the collections.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

This is good for short stories some very very engaging and others were hard to site through but I think that had more to do readers than the writing.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Loved the pear shaped man, very funny story.

Would you listen to another book narrated by the narrators?

    I have.

What did you love best about Dreamsongs (Unabridged Selections)?

The variety of stories was fantastic.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The Turtle, because he did what he could to help people with what he was given in life.

What does the narrators bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The narrator adds more color to the stories.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

    A bit of both.

    Any additional comments?

I'm interested in some of the other compilations they've put together.

    "Good, Bad and ehh"

There is something for everyone here. I really liked the Sand Kings and the stories of the genetic animal space stuff. I also liked the religion stories and the odd twists it takes in space and in the future. But I hated the hard science stuff. I could care less about a lot of the stories. All but one of the horror stories where good. Can't complain.

The parts read by Martian are also good but god what a geek this guy is. I could just see him getting his @ss kicked all over school as a kid.
Even though I skipped a dozen or so storys at 50 plus hours I still found it well worth the credit.

    "Good stories and great commentary"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would, even though I disliked most of the sci-fi stories. I'm pretty sure most of my friends would..

What was one of the most memorable moments of Dreamsongs (Unabridged Selections)?

Ice Dragon. A simply beautiful story, I just had to listen to it in a single setting.

Have you listened to any of the narrators’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Roy Dotrice. After listening to A Song of Ice and Fire he has definitely become one of my favorite narrators, although his narration of A Feast for Crows and A Dance of Dragons was poor compared to his earlier narrations. I'm a big ASoIaF fan, so I suppose that influences my opinion of this book (:

Where does Dreamsongs (Unabridged Selections) rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I like the timeline but have been unable to finish listening because it is now 'unavailable'. Why was I able to listen to ten hours or so and then it not be available?

    "I'm no prude but"
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Too many "F" bombs for my sensibilities. I can take cursing when it's necessary for the story but I felt that the F word was used too many times when there was no reason for it. I like George R R Martin's later stories and even though Song of Ice and Fire had many curse words, I considered them necessary to the story and fit the characters. Many used in Dreamsongs did not. I skipped through half the stories because I did not want to listen to more such use of the f word as a sort of punctuation mark.

Has Dreamsongs (Unabridged Selections) turned you off from other books in this genre?

    No.

What does the narrators bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The narrators are great for the stories

What character would you cut from Dreamsongs (Unabridged Selections)?

None but I would have liked to curb their language.
