Publisher's summary

A dark and sweeping adventure, Dreamcatcher is set in the haunted city of Derry - the site of Stephen King's It and Insomnia. In it, four young boys stand together and do a brave, good thing, an act that changes them in ways that they hardly understand.

A quarter-century later, as grown men who have gone their separate ways, these friends come together once a year to hunt in the woods of Maine. This particular year, a stranger stumbles into their campsite, and before long, the friends are plunged into the most remarkable adventure of their lives. They wind up in a life and death struggle, their only hope for survival locked in their shared past... and in the dreamcatcher.

Featured Article: The Shining—Book vs. Movie

Set in the claustrophobia-inducing snow-covered peaks of an isolated hotel in the middle of the Rockies, The Shining is a classic work of psychological horror that’s just about as chilling as it gets. But it’s so, so much more than your classic story of spirits and a man’s descent into madness—it’s also a tender yet deeply painful meditation on addiction, family, abuse, and redemption. Stanley Kubrick rejected Stephen King's initial treatment of the screenplay, and the author was largely dissatisfied with his novel’s jump to the big screen. So what exactly are the differences between The Shining movie and the novel?

I've always loved this story

And to hear it spoken for the first time in my life was an experience I will repeat in my life many times. It was well read, and it fully immersed me in my favorite of stories. I recommend this audiobook to everyone!!

Excellent Narration!

Loved the book. but what made it great was the narration. This was quite possibly the best narration of any book I have listened to! I highly recommend.

Not Good. Not Bad

I’ve read a lot of Stephen King and this is definitely not his best work. But at the same time it’s not the worst book ever. The narrator does a fantastic job and the first half of the book is pretty good and keeps you engaged. 2nd half gets a little strange and I was honestly confused by the ending. If you’re just getting into King, you can wait to read this one.

A great story, but be ready to cry!

Another Stephen King hit! I must warn you that it's a real tear jerker (or maybe that's just me being a baby).

Great narration

This is by far one of the best narrators I have heard on audible. Really could follow each distinctive character. Impressive. The story is one of Stephen King’s better works, but classic “pay attention or you will get lost” SK! The narration helped keep it straight!

Jeffrey DeMunn is phenomenal!

Having read all of these books when they were released, in re-reading them (or listening in this case) i already know the story and am only revisiting the stories due to fondness. So when i pick a title ive already read i really am always hoping i get a good narrator, because a bad one can ruin the experience. i was not disappointed in any way with Mr. DeMunn! he's an amazing reader who is really great at keeping up the excitement in the fast paced parts, not a lot of narrators can pull that off. Glad i have this in my collection!

It's an Alien story

Not my favorite of King's, to be sure. His writing is what draws me in, but his subject matter is varied in interest to me. This is a lot like the Tommyknockers, but less interesting I think. There really wasn't ever a great turn or catch in this story. Too much mindless character chatter, bordering on boring even. In the end, if you preger his psych thriller VS the alien stuff, move on. The reading was very good though, no complaints there.
