"Touching, funny, sexy and humane." (Publishers Weekly)
I have bought 3 of this authors books they are all stand alone really good reads. But also a thread of gentle, strong, sarastic women that make you laugh out loud. I love the storey lines and the characters are so well developed. This is a writer that is memorable. I really have enjoyed finding these books.
This is one of the sweetest books I've ever read. The characters are really deep and troubled and you can't wait to get to the end of the book to see how it all works itself out. Funny, witty, sexy, sarcastic and sweet.
If you like the SEP books, this is a winner. If you've never read one, this will hook you.
The story was fine. Predictable, but cute and sexy. But I hated the narration! I started the audio book 4 times over before I finally got through it. The child's voice was awful, whiny and baby-ish. I have a 5 year old son (age of child in book) and it just grated on me. I'd have rather heard the narrator's own voice than the false baby voice she lent to Edward. I thought Gabe's voice sounded like he mumbled all the time and hadn't graduated 6th grade. You can do a southern character without making someone sound like they just fell off the turnip truck! Finally, the character of Rachel grew up in Indiana (my home state), yet she has a hick-y southern accent, too! All southern folks do not sound like this!!! Will only read SEP books from now on. I won't buy another audiobook of her's since she uses this same narrator.
mother, wife, artist
I wanted chick lit, and this is definately chick lit, but..it is a little overly predictable, granted it fits the bill if you are just looking for something to pass the time with a familiar story line, but if you want fireworks, this is not the book..
