Wish I Could Say Different

Having listened to hundreds of audio books I feel qualified enough to declare the audio editing and narration effort of this audio book to be of a quality that is embarrassingly substandard. I really wish it wasn't so bad, and i hate to speak badly of peoples work, but i almost feel insulted that this book is presented for purchase as a finished product.
My 3 issues relate to the quality of narration.
1. It sounds as though the narrator is reading the book for the first time as he narrates the book to us. The pauses in his speech confuse the listener as they come at points where it seems like the narrator has anticipated the end of a sentence then realizes the sentence or paragraph continue and resumes reading.
2. Background noise. You can literally hear the pages of the book being turned at some points. This also leads to more fractured narration as there is a mid-sentence pause as the page is turned.
3. This opinion is more subjective and may not apply to other listeners... While the narrator could have a good voice i found the way he narrated reminiscent of grade school when a child would have to read aloud to the class and would use a clownish, sarcastic tone in an attempt to avoid speaking in monotone and to also avoid giving classmates the impression that they were dedicated to giving their best performance. I hope that makes sense to some of you.

Bottom line... I found this book to be unlistenable. I cannot comment on the quality of the story as i found it impossible get very far through it due to reasons mentioned above.

Painful Narration

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I'm not sure. I know there are certain disabilities that affect hearing tone and inflection and I suppose they might tolerate his reading/

How could the performance have been better?

Different narrator. His reading was so distracting and annoying that I'm not even sure what was going on in the story.

I'm sorry... But this should be removed

I can't finish it.
It's... Unlistenable.
The audio is unedited, has the narrator cussing about making mistakes, huge breaks for page turns and breaths... Retakes after the original takes...

I got stuck on audible chapter 4... I can't keep going. >_<
I hope it gets better, but it needs edited. And removed from the store until it is.
This sucks, because the narrator's voices are decent, but the lack of editing is intolerable.
(had to also listen to it at 1.5x speed. He's SUPER slow)

The many tales of the dragon

Would you consider the audio edition of DragonMan to be better than the print version?

Yes, because the narrator brings the characters to life in a way the print book could not hope to do.

What was one of the most memorable moments of DragonMan?

When they found out that there had been life on Mars

Which character – as performed by Joshua Bennington – was your favorite?

The two sisters. One he gave a sexy voice to and the other a plan Jane voice. You could always tell them apart.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It was over whelming at the end and there was just so much going on!

Any additional comments?

The book is large and each chapter could almost be a book in it self. I can see how this could be made into a TV series.

Dragonman Will Keep You Awake!

Where does DragonMan rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Dragonman is definitely at the top of my list for all books I have listened to. I thought I would listen as I was falling off to sleep one night. At 3 am I was still wide awake and lost inside a really exciting story unfolding. It was so so so much more than I thought it would be. WONDERFUL.

What does Joshua Bennington bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I think Josh provides a masculine tone to the story enhancing the "superhuman" tone of the main character.

Who was the most memorable character of DragonMan and why?

Luke Starr of course. I think the author did a great job of bridging today's instability with the challenges faced by Luke. Unintentional or a mistake-there are these terrible challenges he must face...uncertainty reigns supreme. Really a great read.

DRAGON SAVES THE WORLD

Would you consider the audio edition of DragonMan to be better than the print version?

We only heard the audio version and did not read the book so I am not sure. However we did like the audio version.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Luke, he is the hero and dragonman.

Which character – as performed by Joshua Bennington – was your favorite?

Billy Bob the hill billy. I also liked the voices of the sisters. I could always tell them apart.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

There were too many adventures. I would have liked to make a whole book out of a few of his chapters.

Highly recommended

Would you listen to DragonMan again? Why?

Yes I would. The story is very entertaining and captive. Definitely something that has that "IT" factor. The story is so well written, complex yet easy to follow. I would say if I were asked to recommend a book this would be the first one that comes to mind. I can't really put into words how good it is. It's something you definitely have to read or hear for yourself to understand how good it is.

What other book might you compare DragonMan to and why?

I can't really compare it to many books. It's a fantasy novel with suspense and mystery with a thriller element and it crosses many genres especially if you have read the first two novels.

Which scene was your favorite?

I don't want to give away any spoilers so I will just say Nathan and you read the book you'll understand.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I don't want to give anything away, but there is an amazing conversation between Luke and Nathan that is very profound.

Any additional comments?

Buy it read it or listen to it either way you will be entertained and be blessed with a refreshing new story that can captivate you.
