Ex-cop Henry Shore has been Chief Park Ranger at Crater Lake National Park for eight years and he likes his park and his life the way it's been. Safe. Tranquil. Predictable. But he's about to be tested in so many ways. First the earthquakes begin, people begin to go missing, then there's some mysterious water creature that's taken up residence in the caves below Crater Lake and it's not only growing in size, it's aggressive and cunning and very hungry.
And it's decided it likes human beings. To eat.
And it can come up onto land.
So Henry, with the help of his wife, Ann; a young paleontologist named Justin; and a band of brave men, must not only protect his park and his people from the monster but somehow find where it lives and destroy it before it can kill again.

There are few things better than a good story well told!
Entertaining, light, fun.
I loved the descriptions of Crater Lake and the Park. The book is not particularly deep or wet your pants thrilling but if you're looking to suspend reality and be entertained by a lake monster for a few hours this will fit the bill. If you read the description and think you might be interested you probably won't be disappointed. The writing and narration are good.
I am a wee bit over the half a century mark in years. I enjoy audiobooks, cats, rats and most days my family, not necessarily in that order!lo
Yes,I already have
There are monsters in Crater Lake!Although I didn't LOVE this book,I enjoyed the story.I found the science side lacking.I was expecting a specific dinosaur to be named, not just referred to as 'monsters' throughout the book.I liked the storyline. The narrator seemed completely wrong for this book. His reading seemed lackluster and needed depth and feeling. I think this book would be great for the YA crowd.I'd have loved it as a teen.
Pretty high up there. I enjoyed it quite a bit.
The last few chapters had me a nervous wreck!
The main character. He felt very likable.
Mr. Hayes gave the characters a very down-to-earth feel, which I thought was very appropriate for this book. Loved the book, too.

Dinosaurs are Awesome!
The story was a straightforward adventure, not a lot of over done military weapons or insane carnage. I also liked the characters, and the setting was wonderful. I appreciate the lack of bad language and explicit sex scenes too.
No I haven't, but I would definitely listen to another one. His "down home" style was perfect.
There's Something in Crater Lake ... and it's Hungry!
I'm looking forward to the next book in the series, which I already own.
Dinosaur Lake is an exciting and frightening story that places big and powerful dinosaur never before discovered right in the park's midst. This violent creature must survive and has discovered that those screaming, silly little humans make great nourishment..It reminds me of Jurasick Park.
an excellent story there were times I had to stop because it was so intense but couldn't wait to get back and find out what happened to the characters very enjoyable story
I'm an audiobook blogger for authors and narrators. I do reviews and post all things Romance, Horror and Sci-Fi
It took some time for me to get use to the narrator. He sounds like he's reading down to the audience, like he's reading YA lit. The story picked up
Significantly towards the middle and never faltered after that. Not sure if I'll continue this series but I will listen to more of the author's audiobooks.
I really liked listening to this book and was interested from the start - because of the subject matter and the performance. The book is quite original and makes you think about listening to it again. I would wholeheartedly recommend listening to this book (rather than reading it) as the narrator's voice adds so much more than if you read it yourself!
Purchased as Whispersync on the cheap courtesy of EBooksHabit.
I have several works by this author, and bought this because I was delighted to get one of her books so cheaply, a real win-win!
Great lead-in and mood setting, characters established early and well. Characters are well developed and there is no problem relating to the reactions and dilemmas of each. The plot is well developed and nicely paced with some really good plot twists.
Narrator expands upon the characters and is an excellent audio performer.
The story kept me coming back for more with this book. As always I want there to be more, but i get that all books have to end. I will definitely look for more by this author!
