Publisher's summary

It’s vampire politics as usual around the town of Bon Temps, but never before have they hit so close to Sookie’s heart….

Growing up with telepathic abilities, Sookie Stackhouse realized early on there were things she'd rather not know. And now that she's an adult, she also realizes that some things that she knows about, she'd rather not see—like Eric Northman feeding off another woman. A younger one.

There's a thing or two she'd like to say about that, but she has to keep quiet—Felipe de Castro, the Vampire King of Louisiana (and Arkansas and Nevada), is in town. It’s the worst possible time for a human body to show up in Eric's front yard—especially the body of the woman whose blood he just drank.

Now, it's up to Sookie and Bill, the official Area Five investigator, to solve the murder. Sookie thinks that, at least this time, the dead girl's fate has nothing to do with her. But she is wrong. She has an enemy, one far more devious than she would ever suspect, who's set out to make Sookie's world come crashing down.

It wasn't THAT bad.

What did you love best about Deadlocked?

The narration was really good and characters were explored deeper. Old characters were wrapped up.

What other book might you compare Deadlocked to and why?

Compared to the other Sookie books there was very little romance involved in this book. It was sad kind of like a cloud is over Sookie even though some glad things happened. Even the happy things seemed very overcast.

What about Johanna Parker’s performance did you like?

She always does very well at capturing Sookie's southern charms.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

The book was very short. I almost could not help listening to it all in one sitting.

Any additional comments?

I wish there had been more Eric/Sookie or Sookie/anyone plot. But the story was okay.

I Love Sookie Stackhouse!!!

I waited to write a review until I listened to all 12 books. I loved them all. Sookie is a breath of fresh air small town girl who has had problems in the past with romance because she has the gift of reading minds. Imagine going on a date and hearing everything the guy was thinking... Not good. With vampires out of the closet, she finds she can't read vampire minds. Finally she can have true romance. There is also Mystery, Murder, and Mayhem and more supernatural creatures to be revealed!
I loved all the characters and how the story unfolded through all the books. It was bitter sweet that it had to come to an end. I was going to watch True Blood on HBO until friends told me it wasn't nearly as good as the books and had way too much porn!! I will leave the same review for all twelve books. Sookie just wouldn't be Sookie without Johanna Parker, I loved her voice!

Filled with events!

In her usual mixture of the mundane life in small town Louisiana and supernatural adventures, Ms. Harris created a real page turner.
I have been a fan of the series for a while now. Some were great, some less so, this one is definitely among the best ones in my opinion. A lot happens in this installment of Sookie Stackhouse series. Some long lingering unresolved issues are resolved. Some mysteries get solved, others are added, and there's a huge climactic scene at the end.
I enjoyed every page of it!

The series is over..

What did you like best about Deadlocked? What did you like least?

The story moved on well from the past books. Although I didn't feel that it was a fitting ending to the series.

What other book might you compare Deadlocked to and why?

Sookie continues her misadventures from the past book series, but it lacks the intensity of the past books.

Which scene was your favorite?

The fight between Sookie in the van was quintessential to the series, but it fell flat.

Could you see Deadlocked being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Yes, but it already has.

Any additional comments?

It was a disappointing ending for the series.

Great book in the series!!

Would you listen to Deadlocked again? Why?

I did listen to it twice!! I was disappointed by book 11, I felt like this book was a great follow up! Without ruining the book, it has the back and forth of her relationship with Eric. The ending was great, I cannot wait to see where the next book goes!

Another Sookie installment.

Although this was not as exciting as some of the previous stories in the series, I did enjoy it.
It was like reading about an old friend, with her everyday life (Walmart, Taco Bell, birth of twins) and it was a good read.
Johanna Parker is the perfect narrator for this series and I hope she continues with the Sookie stories.
I loved the ending as it feels like this is where the story should be going.

This wasn't the best in the series, but it was enjoyable nonetheless.

Enjoyable

If you are looking for deep reading you will need to go elsewhere. There's drama, intrigue, romance, and of course all the supernatural creatures you can imagine.
I wanted to listen to the next book as soon as I finished one. I like Charlaine Harris, and I like all the characters. It's interesting reading these after watching the True Blood shows. There have definitely been some changes in the show, the books are only from Sookie's viewpoint, so the show would have to be different to show the other people's view points. Well done.
