Prequel to the Daughters of the Dagger series
Mirabelle de Burgh is desperate to give her husband an heir. She's heard of the superstition that to buy a jeweled dagger from a blind old hag would ensure her of conceiving a child. One child for each dagger bought.
The old hag she hunts down has many jeweled daggers, but Mirabelle has limited coins and wants many children. Her greed gets her in trouble and she finds herself in a predicament which causes many circumstances in her life to change.
Four jeweled daggers and four daughters, each with a story, and a surprise later in life that none of them would ever suspect, in Daughters of the Dagger.

My favorite books are 'Historical Romance'. A good book takes you away from your everyday life & puts you in the middle of an adventure.
Author Elizabeth Rose writes an exciting and enticing prequel to her Daughters of the Daggers Series. This prequel also sets the stage for for the MadMan MacKeefe Series. I thoroughly enjoyed this prequel, as I became familiar with the backstory of Ruby, Sapphire, Amber & Amethyst, as well as the birth of their only brother Onyx. I highly recommend this book and both series by Elizabeth Rose.
Mirabelle was desperate to give her husband children. She went to an old blind hag to buy a jeweled dagger as she had heard that it would insure she would have a male child. She only had enough money to buy four of them. The hag told her she had to name the girl children after each stone in the daggers ---- Ruby, Amethyst, Amber and Sapphire for them to find true love. Mirabelle wanted a forth one and tried to steal it. She got caught up in her greed and her story is one to behold. Such pagan and intrigue is written in this tale. It is setting us up in great stories to come.
I love the different voices of the characters, Stan has a very pleasing voice.
Mirabelle, and Old Hag, They are the main Characters.
This is a great prequel to lead into Ruby, Amethyst, Amber, and Sapphire
What an excellent way to set up a new series. I read book one first (see my review of 'Ruby , daughters of the dagger ') and came back to the prequel. I'm glad I did although it's not strictly necessary.
Wonderful is the word for the books and the narrator.
the narrator he did a really good job on the book
when the old woman told her to choose carefully and to name the children after the stone in the hilt of the dagger so they will have true love
no I haven't but this one was really good so I def will check out his others
this was a really good prequel Mirabelle really wanting to give her husband that she loved a child does something blasphemous so she buys daggers from a blind hag. it goes to show she really loved her husband to do something like this.
"Narrator did not appeal.."
… and nor did the narrative! He has an odd tone and stress which I shall avoid, while it just isn't my thing I guess.
"Thoroughly enjoyed this"
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this short prequel to the daughters of the dagger series this series has me hooked already can't wait to start reading ruby the next book
