Publisher's Summary

Paris Armstrong never saw it coming. With two grown children and a lovely home in Connecticut, Paris was happy with her marriage, her family, her life. So when her husband of 24 years said they needed to talk, Paris couldn't imagine what he was about to say.

"I want a divorce," Peter told her. Just like that, the husband she adored had dumped her for a younger woman, leaving Paris to pick up the pieces of a shattered life. Then the excruciating attempts by well-meaning friends to "fix her up." Worse yet, she still loved Peter. Drastic measures were called for. It was time to move - as far away as possible.

Heading west to San Francisco, Paris discovers a world full of men too young, too old, too married, or too good to be true, and with her dating game score hovering between disappointing and disastrous - and her daughter now engaged to a man Paris' age - Paris determines that romance is not in her future. That's when her small circle of offbeat, loving friends becomes more important than ever before. And Paris discovers that that the secret of happiness is finding the gifts in life's unexpected twists and turns - turning despair into freedom and loss into joy.

    "believe it, don't bother"

Disbelieving the reviews, I listened to this book, waiting for something to happen. Don't bother, it didn't. What a shame. Danielle Steele's staff needs to go back to doing research rather than wading thru tedium and predictibility like this.

"This book actually saved my sanity…"
Would you consider the audio edition of Dating Game to be better than the print version?

When my marriage was falling apart, I honestly thought I was going insane. I was always the lucky one. I had a marriage that I thought would last forever. I never in my wildest dreams imagined that the old cliché of "a woman half my age" would be the unraveling of my life.

    But it happened.

Fortunately, by some miracle I stumbled across the audio tape version of this book at my local library. It took me years to find the digital audiobook version--and when I finally did, I bought it and listened to it from a different, wiser perspective.

In each instance, this book rekindled my joy, hope, and confidence. I would recommend it to any woman who's been hurt and needs the strength to crawl out of bed and carry on.

It seems strange that an audiobook would give you that kind of strength, especially one that's just fiction, but ithis one works!

    "Entertaining and easy"

No deep lessons learned here, but fun and easy to listen to. This is a good 'listen' for those who are dealing with a failed romance through fiction.

"The immature and naive woman's drama"

Although the author tried to write Paris' story in the magical way as Cinderella, the stories of broken families and irrational relationships listed in the book seemed too immature. Just inappropriate self-justification.

    "Narrator is so talented"

At first, I confess, I was skeptic about male narrator because its main character was a woman. But, narrator was sooo good at making distinctive characters alive. Everytime he brings another character in him including women, men, men with accents, teenager, gay.... it made me amazed at what he was capable of. he made me even laugh from time to time. especially when he spoke with thick Parisan accent.

    "OK"
Is there anything you would change about this book?

I expected the main character to date more and want to actually meet people.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

The ending was pretty much what I had expected...no surprises!

Which character – as performed by Sam Freed – was your favorite?

Bixby was hilarious! I could actually see myself talking to a character like him.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

I would wait for the DVD or catch it on Netflix.
