Publisher's summary

Face it...you really wanted to like the Deadseries, but the jumping around was just too dang distracting. "Just give me one story to follow!" you screamed. Well...your request was heard. This book strips away all those other pesky tales and gives you 18 chapters of The Geeks!

Kevin, Mike, Darrin, and Cary thought that a zombie apocalypse would be the coolest thing ever. They were wrong.

Follow four self-admitted zombie geeks as the unthinkable happens and proves to be more of a nightmare than any of them could imagine.

This is a compilation of the first three books in the Deadseries: Dead: The Ugly Beginning: , Dead: Revelations, and Dead: Fortunes and Failures. Each special edition also contains close to 10,000 words of additional material requested by YOU...the listeners! This special edition allows you to sink into a Dead world with your favorite people and not be "distracted" by those long absences as other stories intrude and get in the way. A special edition has been released for all three of the story lines that exist in the Deadbooks--Dead: Vignettes, Dead: Steve's Story are also expanded editions of the stories from the first three books in the series.

Hordes!

What did you like best about DEAD? What did you like least?

DEAD was a good classic zombie book, down fall of society, zombies, bad guys and very descriptive writing.

I was thrown off by one of the characters introduced near the end of the book that felt a little cliche.

Would you recommend DEAD to your friends? Why or why not?

I would definitely recommend it, but i would warn that the book is quite "graphic".

Truly enjoyed! A streamlined DEAD!

If you could sum up DEAD: The Geeks (Vol.1) in three words, what would they be?

Nope- not three words. Sorry #notsorry

Personally, I don't mind convoluted books that jump around from different storylines/characters; but it is also nice sometimes to read a linear story. DEAD: The Geeks combines some of the best elements of the DEAD series, but focuses on 'the geeks' only, which really lets the readers sink deeply into the characters and what is happening to them. The geeks aren't geeks in the computer sense really (that's not how I view them, at least); they're more horror mongers or 'zombie geeks' as TW puts it. They're obsession over zombies being the best thing since sliced bed quickly morphs into a crap reality where survival overrides anything cool about the z-apoc. Now, these characters already exist in the DEAD world and this book actually fills in little pieces, like a puzzle, to the backstory and current circumstances of the characters- Kevin, Mike, Darrin, & Cary. I actually listened to this before I started reading some of the other DEAD books. You really don't need to be versed in what's happened in the main series to get into this book, it's honestly a standalone. This book is definitely worth the listen and I give it full stars! Although, I do have to admit that it doesn't beat the Ava stories for me. That ghoul rocks.

What does Andrew McFerrin bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He's a very strong narrator, delivers the story well, and makes the sequence of events believable. Any story could be ruined by poor narration; it takes a great actor to add to a story (not that I believe TW's works need any extra oomph. They're amazing on their own, in black and white on the printed page, no flourish).

Another great story!!!

What did you love best about DEAD?

This book is proof you can be a nerd and still survive in the dead world plus get the hot girl, kill zombies, and stop the bad guys,of course there's always a price to be paid.

What other book might you compare DEAD to and why?

Zomblog, Dead Perspective, and any of the Dead Series written by TW Brown are as close as you get for me. The books are about ordinary everyday folks not super heroes who come in save the day. Sometimes the day can't be saved...

Have you listened to any of Andrew McFerrin’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I listened to Andrew in Dead Perspectives. He always does a great voice for each character involved in the story. He has as much fun telling the story as I do listening.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Without question! This book has some of the best characters in the series, everyday normal simple folks.

Any additional comments?

Check out The Dead Series by TW Brown, if you are tired of the same old hero always wins books, you will really enjoy these books

Another out if the park hit.

So many Zombie Apocalypse books to choose from, so how does one cut through the white noise and find a relevant frequency? Reviews. Reviews while mostly opinion can give great insight into to the souls of a work. Once you find a great Author it is rare they let you down. Well we have a good one here. TW Brown has delighted me over many works he has released.
No he is not breaking staggering new ground whith his work, he is however giving the reader awesome story lines, and very believable characters. Some of those characters can be rather disturbing at times, and it's this one little gem that sets theese stories apart from the usual fare. I mean personally I feel a range of emotion when reading his works. I root for heros yet find myself equally disgusted by others. Todd brings out some of the worst of humanity in his pages, but you know what makes it so disturbing? He's 100% right and believable. Yes we all figure there will be religious zealots, power hungry dictators, lose firing ego maniacs. However his are 100% accurate! to accurate at times. It can leave you feeling dirty just to be associated with the human race. Good job Mr. Brown.

So Dead Perspectives Geeks, yep that sums it up. Kevin Drayon is your typical geek, he has watched one to many Zombie films, but he is a geek with a plan. It's a lose one, and the cohesiveness seems to fall apart at the worst times and he resorts to planning in the moment. You know, kind of like real life. You know what though? he pulls it off.. Well mostly. I won't spend time giving spoilers, and you can read my review of volume one to see what I don't like about the series in general. Despite those personal pet peeves this is an excellent volume and seriously worth your time and audible credit. Highly recommended.
