Publisher's summary

When Ruben Beeler finds a rancher friend shot to death and mutilated, he calls on Marshals Marion Daniels and Homer Poteet for help. That call begins a chase that takes the men from St. Joe into Kansas and down to Hell on the Border and the Fort Smith court of Hangin' Judge Issac Parker. In pursuit of the killers, the Marshals venture into the Oklahoma Territory, or "The Nations" as it was known at the time, following a path of bloodlust that began before the killing of Arkansas Bill Cole. Serial killers are nothing new, as the Marshals find out on the Cutthroat Trail.

Amazing...so sad it's the last!

I'm not sure that this author will be writing more of this series but I will be first in line if he does. I will truly miss these characters and their fantastic friendship wrapped around justice on the trail. After the first book in the series I could not read them fast enough but wanted to savior them as well. A series not to be missed.

Another hit

I've hid behind rocks with Rube. Laughed with Marion and looked as far as Homer's eye could see. Loved all in the trail series. Kindly looking forward to taking to the trail on another adventure.

GREAT BOOK AND SERIES

Fantastic!! This is the seventh book in the David R Lewis' trail series. It was wonderful to connect with Ruben. Marion, and Homer, three US Marshals in the early west. I have thoroughly enjoyed every book in this series. I want to read them all in a hurry but am savoring them! I have been listening to them from audible, they are read by the author who is a wonderful narrator! I must confess I have the books too. I am hoping Mr. Lewis read the last in the series. Thank you for a great fun time!

This series is destined to be a classic

Any additional comments?

This was an exceptionally good book in the series. I think I enjoyed it more than usual because more time was spent with Reuben at home with Miss Harmony and Little Bill than in pervious books. I love Reuben's relationship with his son. Of course I DO enjoy the parts where the three heroes are on the trail. It always amazes me how far they travel by horseback with no Interstate highways!! The author adds a new character in this book - Johnny Sweetwater, an Indian guide. He is an amazing character and I hope we will hear from his in future books.

This is an amazingly well written book, and series, and the author is also the best narrator possible for these books. David R. Lewis is an American treasure.

Into The Nations

In this book we learn more about Reubens relationship with his son. Bill is 5 now and idolizes his Dad. The 3 marshalls have to go after a killer who cuts throats after they're dead. At Ft. Smith a judge pairs them with Johnny, an Indian guide who takes them into the Nations. Good addition to the story. Hope he shows up in future stories. Looking forward to the next story in the series.

David R Lewis, Great as usual!!

Would you listen to Cutthroat Trail again? Why?

As with all of David's trail books this was a great listen.

If you haven't listened to his other books start with Deer Run Trail, book 1.

What other book might you compare Cutthroat Trail to and why?

The trail series.
