Publisher's summary

A handsome 30-year-old gay Brit returns from over 10 years in the US, where he became an award-winning fashion designer with a top fashion house. Scott Farrell has left behind his lover, a famous porn star, to spend Christmas with his lesbian friends in dear old Plymouth, a place that will never, ever, be the same!

Scott meets a slightly younger guy, which results in a relationship that a certain evil racist does not approve of. He tells Scott, in more ways than one, to "get out of town or else" after a new-found friend, an Indian lady, and her cat, die mysteriously. But that's only the beginning of Scott's troubles.

Not the worst

Not the worst book I've ever read or auditioned, but certainly at the lower end of the quality scale. The writing is mostly tolerable, but the ridiculous plot and flights of fancy were difficult to swallow. Even the narrator sounds bored. And in the middle of the muddle, there is an unexplained graphic lesbian sex scene followed shortly after by a graphic gay sex scene. It was as if they had been transplanted from another book.

no no no

weak story and terrible narration. the man can't even read!

If I am going to listen to a book about a bunch of gay guys, why add a lesbian sex scene?

not good.

This is not audio entertainment

The story is odd, but I couldn't get past the narrator. Usually I can handle a wide range of narrators, but this fellow sounded like he was giving his first oral report in front of a class of bullies. At times I thought he was going to cry, and the sound of pages turning didn't help either.

Cry For Money Wasted On This

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

First of all, when I saw the overall rating for this book, I had to add me two cents (more like one wasted credit). This story had a plot as shaky as the narrators voice. I purchased this with "Ghostly Gay Trilogy" by the same narrator/author. This was the lesser of two evils. One stupidly bad story and one really really bad narrator. Not to mention characters with names like Poppy Seed.

What do you think your next listen will be?

It won't be by this author or narrator. I will go back to listening to mainstream books from popular authors.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The narrator can barely read. His voice quivers. He pauses to turn the pages as he reads with barely any inflection in his quavering voice.

What character would you cut from Cry Destiny?

All of them. White noise would have been preferable to this book.

Any additional comments?

It's too late for me, but SAVE YOUR MONEY OR CREDITS
