If you could sum up Conqueror in three words, what would they be?

Yes, the series was great this just was not the best book

Which scene was your favorite?

Any detailed scene leading to a battle

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Great historical fiction on the Mongols

Would you listen to Conqueror again? Why?

I would, as the details of the story are many, and I would like to catch more of them the next time I listen to it.

What other book might you compare Conqueror to and why?

Very much in line with the other books by Iggulden in the Genghis series.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes but it is quite long. Very gripping story line.

Conqueror

This is my first complete book on any khan topic. I feel so fortunate having this book read to me using audiobook. I couldn't let it rest instead I played it every chance I could to listen to it. Kublai has always been a familiar name to me. It is now ingrained so much more deeply. Such an honorable khanate that should have every human today learn that the greatest achievement is to take without taking instead having it given.

Back to its roots!

The previous novel was more political and less action as compared to the first 3 novels. This 5th and final installments gets back to its roots and is very action packed. However, it does include some behind the scenes political intrigue, which I found to be quite interesting. Definitely a healthy blend of both action and politics. I'm sad to see the series end, but I'm happy knowing that I'll get to start it all over again some day! Narrator Richard Ferrone did an excellent job. Highly recommend!

Conn Iggulden - You can't possibly end this here !

Where does Conqueror rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It is difficult to call out just one out of the series. I must say that Conn Iggulden is the first book among many that I will listen to in this genre. Among all the audiobooks I've listened to so far, I would rank it 2nd.

What did you like best about this story?

Kublai Khan's story of transformation from a scholar to a warrior. His relationship with his mother, and later on with his wife.

Which scene was your favorite?

One that stands out is when Möngke became Khan, and he imparted his vision/mission for Kublai on the condition that he change and depart from his Chin ways.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

It was difficult to put this down. I wish it was on whispersync.

Any additional comments?

Ferrone is an outstanding narrator. He grows on you.

Dorset

Loved the book and the narration. At the end of Conn Iggulden's books there is usually an historical note chapter explaining his translation of the facts. On this recording it was missing. I would like this to be included in the recordings in future if the book has one.
