Is it just me?

It seems as though these books are getting less and less interesting.. Blah blah Bill obsession, Sookie is horny, Sookie gets beat up, everyone thinks she's pretty and charming and she thinks herself pretty and charming, etc. The writing is also getting played out. Harris extremely redundant. Overall, the HBO show was more exciting

Charaline Harris is awesome but you knew that!

What did you love best about Club Dead?

It was an engrossing story. Enjoyed the ride the author took me on. Love the trouble Sookie gets into and the play between Bill and Eric. Worth the purchase price.

What other book might you compare Club Dead to and why?

I would compare these books to Harry Potter. The reason why? It's an orphan with powers but it has sexiness and adult problems. All cushioned with action and fantasy. The books weave a larger story. Sookie's place in the world and what she wants out of life.

What about Johanna Parker’s performance did you like?

She is Sookie. Love the performance.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed, held my breathe and just sank into this story.

my favorite

This book has texture, plot, character, and humor plus a great reader. I have read the reviews about this series and honestly I think Charlaine Harris is holding up pretty well with a difficult competitive partner. HBO did not do well with this book, though the actors do seem to make up for the confusion in directing and writing. The only complaint I share with the other reviews is about Charlaine Harris' commitment to rereading her own work. The readers value her imagination and I would think she might find herself rewarded in some rereads, and so end some confusions. This particular book is my favorite of the series. I am surprised I continue to read the series and enjoy it. I would like the fun to return from the early books and this book in the series is not the only one to do well on all fronts.

Just gets better with each one!

Would you listen to Club Dead again? Why?

Of course! Johanna Parker's performance is what I think of when I think of Sookie Stackhouse. I enjoyed the storyline, although I think Sookie is like Bella Swan in that ever since she got involved with vampires, trouble finds her. Sometimes there is too much to resolve in one book, but I really enjoy seeing the character maturation and changes based on situations that happen!

What other book might you compare Club Dead to and why?

Kind of like vampire diaries meets twilight, except with more passion and vampires are out of the coffin (closet) so to speak!

What about Johanna Parker’s performance did you like?

She not only voices other characters well, but the way her voice changes in the situations Sookie gets in...wow! Kristen Stewart could learn a lot just listening to this chick! And her Southern accent isn't as fake as others who try to mimic the accent and turn it into Gone with the Wind accents! This is not the civil war south people!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed out loud a lot when the situation warranted it. Charlaine Harris has a great sense of humor

Any additional comments?

I am working my way slowly through the rest of the series. Bring it on!

Good Series

I really enjoyed these books. I listen to this series while I work. They are easy to listen to and entertaining enough to help me through a repetitive job. I would recommend and listened to the whole series.

love this series!

Really enjoy the narration of this series. The Sookie series books are my favorite books from Charlaine Harris. Much better than the True blood series on tv after season one. True blood had the best cast. Wish it had followed the books. The books have more comedy amongst the bad stuff.

bill goes missing enter Fellowship of the Sun

Anyone who's seen HBO's True blood knows this book... the TV series starts off true to the books and then veers off, but this one is pretty much all in the series.

In this one Bill gone missing and Sookie gets lent out to another town to find a 2nd missing vampire .... in the course of it gets to know some werewolfs and almost ends up hooking up with one, in part because he can offer her a life that's way more in line with the life she's always wanted to have... a warm breathing man she can have kids with, cook for, etc. We're introduced to the Fellowship of the Sun church, which is all about hating vampires. and kidnapped said vampire... and then Sookie discovers something bad has happened to bill

Once again, she saves Bill (in the HBO TV shows it tends to be Bill saving her)

I am really loving this series and am burning through them. However, now I am stuck - where is book #4, "Dead to the World"? This is driving me crazy! Please post it immediately!
