Extremely Entertaining

This is the second book I've listened to by Ms. Chiaverini. The first, Sugar Camp Quilt, was okay, but it is only because I'm a quilter that I decided to try this latest offering. What a happy surprise to find out her writing is stronger and her story line is more innovative and compelling in this book. In fact, I listened to the entire book in just two days - something pretty unusual for me. It was a good story with believable characters. I laughed several times, and I shed a tear. I found the ending to round things out and tie ends satisfactorily (always a nice bonus when you've enjoyed the story).

Circle of Quilters

This book fooled me. I took it only because I have a dear friend who quilts and this caught my fancy. I found I had discovered a world I had no idea existed. The premise is simple: The quilt camp needs a new teacher. We actually get several distinct stories in one, as we read about how each applicant came to quilting and ends up applying. The author did an excellent job giving her characters depth and individuality... even to the extent that I didn't like all of them equally!

The book has a leisurely pace and a relaxing rhythm and I wanted it to last. Some of the credit for that goes to the author's storytelling ability, but some of the credit most certainly goes to Christina Moore, whose narration is really excellent. I've purchased another "quilt camp" series book and that is a credit to this author and this narrator.

Love these women-everywoman

I live to sew and sew to live. I love being able to listen to these wonderful stories of women lives, friendships and challenges while I'm sewing. You really don't need to know how to sew or quilt to appreciate thesae stories. I have also listened while driving and not wanted to get out of the car after an entire day of driving.

Rave - Elm Creek Quilts

Outstanding! This is almost like 6 different short stories in one book. Each chapter was like a mini book giving the reader a glimpse into the life of various quilters and the paths that led them there. I'm also a quilter so found the book particuliarly entertaining, possibly one of the best I have listened to all year. You won't be disappointed.

Very good 'read'

While this book is very different from others in this series, it introduces a whole new cast of characters in a way that involves one in their lives and want to know more about them. I enjoyed it and look forward to the next in this series.

Makes you stop and think

What did you love best about Circle of Quilters?

I enjoyed getting to know new characters and their back stories. I kept asking myself if I would want to be in this "circle" and how I would react during the interviews.

Which scene was your favorite?

I liked the additional impromptu interview each nominee had with Agnes. Nice touch!
