Publisher's summary

Here's a high-fashion, jet-setting novel from the best-selling author of Pants on Fire and Mad About the Boy.

Stella Fain has a rule for men she likes: make them wait. But the gorgeous Jay proves an exception to the rule when he bowls Stella off her Prada wedges at a press junket on the Cote d'Azur.

He might seem to have everything going for him, but Stella is about to realize that while jetset lifestyles can be fabulous, her career as a journalist isn't something she wants to jeopardize for any man, no matter how filthy-rich or gorgeous.

There's no denying money makes the world go round and diamonds are a girl's best friend, but they don't make the path to love any easier to tread - with or without the Prada wedges.

good listen

Great narrator and great writing for the genre. For a book about a girl falling for a billionaire it was surprisingly not a cheese-fest, at least till the last five minutes. Stella was awesome and her family just as fabulous if not completely frustrating. Jay was kind of a tool, but he redeems himself towards the end and wasn't a huge focus of stella's life or the book.

not my favorite

I did not hate it, but I would not recommend it to anyone, just long and a bit dull.

Delightful!

With all of the craziness going on worldwide it was a welcome escape to listen to such a fun story; Ms. Alderson is a gifted writer and the woman narrating the book was wonderful. Thanks for the distraction-now please write more.

Unpredictable ending, ridiculous plot

Stella is not a likeable character and Jay is even worse. She categorizes her job as sort of the provenance of the rich, yet she has not problem accepting a home from her (wealthy) father or gifts and travel from Jay. Jay is bossy, patriarchal and a rich bum. Stella's father is a principal character and treats the women in his life as accessories, leaving them when he gets bored (except for the current wife).

SPOILER:
I was frustrated with Stella's inability to say no to the idiotic childish Jay, and I wished for a different ending. The ending was not expected because I think any sensible woman in this day and age would not allow her father to take the upper hand and direct her life. I also thought she was going to end up with a different person.

It is cute

I wish this had happened to me! Likeable main characters and I loved the parts of the story dealing with the happenings at The Journal. Lovely narrator except for Jay's voice - too girly and soppy...not ideal for the male romantic lead.
