Publisher's Summary

The Pultizer Prize-winning author of Saint Maybe and Breathing Lessons offers the beloved story of a man whose contented life in his rundown house in Baltimore is shaken to its core, after his sister moves in with him and his boarder starts bringing home babies.

Thirty-eight-year-old Jeremy Pauling has never left home. He lives on the top floor of a Baltimore row house where he creates collages of little people snipped from wrapping paper. His elderly mother putters in the rooms below, until her death. And it is then that Jeremy is forced to take in Mary Tell and her child as boarders. Mary is unaware of how much courage it takes Jaremy to look her in the eye. For Jeremy, like one of his paper creations, is fragile and easily torn - especially when he's falling in love....

An avid reader, demanding of the story, characters and narrator. Mysteries and historical fiction are my favorites.

    "Love Anne Tyler But"

I have read so many of Tyler's books, and this is another excellent example of character development.

However, be warned that it is perhaps the most depressing book I ever read.

love to read and love audio books!Favorite authors: Marcia Willett,Nevil Shute,Mary Stewart, and Jacqueline Winspear. I could go on and on but wont bore you! I belong to a book group and we often" Listen" to the books we have selected for the month while using a paper copy for the discussion notes. It really enhances the quality of the story.

    "A Good Listen."

Celestial Navigation is not one of my favorite Anne Tyler books but definitely worth a listen. As in all of her books there are quirky characters .Jeremy is an agoraphobic.
The author does a good job making you feel what it would be like to live in his world.
The narrator is very good with just the right hesitation and stuttering necessary to
make the character believable and sympathetic. I wish the ending was a little less abrupt.
