    "Narrator ruined a good story"
If you could sum up Caught Running in three words, what would they be?

    Working a touchy Subject

What did you like best about this story?

I thought that the premise of the story was extremely good.

What didn’t you like about Jeff Gelder’s performance?

I thought that the narrator was extremely monotoned compared to other stories that I have listed to. Honestly, his reading ruined what could have been a great love story.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

    Life after High School

    Any additional comments?

I thought that the book took a sensitive subject and made it extremely acceptable. I just didn't care for the music and the the cheesy overtone that the narration took. I think that I would have enjoyed this story much more if I had read it instead of listening to it. I just didn't think that the narration did the story justice.

    "Good and Bad"
What made the experience of listening to Caught Running the most enjoyable?

Read the story and enjoyed it. Can't say much about the audio. Was hoping for a better interpretation.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Caught Running?

When Jake took a chance to find out if Branden was gay.

What three words best describe Jeff Gelder’s voice?

    Boring, drone, monotone

If you could take any character from Caught Running out to dinner, who would it be and why?

Branden, Jake sounds too grumpy for me.

    Any additional comments?

Dreamspinner really needs to find better narrators!

    "A favorite"

I've read this story on my kindle several times before listening to this audiobook and I've been in love with this story from the beginning. The main characters are very kind and loving, while having a sense of humor and playfulness. I liked the way that the narrator read the characters, and there were only one or two places where I thought I would have read the line differently if I were reading it. Usually I will have far more instances in which I think that I would have read a line differently when I listen to an audiobook. I would recommend this auidobook to anyone who wants to listen to a story about a sweet relationship between two loving, playful, men develop. I would not recommend this audiobook to someone who wants to be surprised by the plot of the book that they are reading.

Would you consider the audio edition of Caught Running to be better than the print version?

Lot's of sex scenes. The story is cute. A little cliché, but hey, better than most gay fiction.

    "Fantastic story, good narration"

Brandon and Jake were never friends nor really enemies in high school, simply occupants of totally different social spheres. Ten years later they are both teaching at their old high school and things are looking a lot different than they did back then.

Brandon, who was home schooled for much of his schooling, was never a “team” type of guy. But, he’s still an athlete. When the school needs a coach to help with the winning baseball team, new teacher Brandon is pressed into service.

Jake is very skeptical of Brandon’s “help” in the coaching department, but after seeing the guy run, he re-evaluates. They end up kind of working really well together as coaches, and that slowly blossoms into more.

It’s a slow-burn, but both are aware of the other physically, more than just friends. It takes an act of bravery on Jake’s part to test the waters, but once he does the two barely come up for air!

These are still tough times, and nobody can find out about them… and are they willing to even admit how important they are to each other?

    **

I really loved this and it was my first audiobook that I bought in the m/m genre. It’s an easy read. Very low angst, very hot chemistry, fun dialog, quirky MCs and in general just a light fun book.

Now that I’ve read a ton more in this genre, and have come to expect a bit more from it, I can say that there are things that could be done to improve it – ie make these guys move past the ILYs to the nitty gritty living life in secret as co-workers, dealing with Jake’s pain management, coming to grips with Brandon’s life ambitions… lots of heavy “issues” that got fairly well brushed under the rug at the end of the book and left as things to be dealt with “later”.

I think that, as authors, both Madeleine Urban and Abigail Roux definitely grew and improved as they published more books, but as far as a fun, light books go – this still ranks among the top!

    Audio
Jeff Gelder isn’t my favorite author, and as has been pointed out in other reviews, he makes many mistakes with this narration. In addition, his tone is rather flat or sometimes takes on an up note that doesn’t fit the story. In any case, it isn’t horrible, but it’s not great, and other narrators could’ve definitely done a better job.

Regardless, I still highly recommend this book and as a way to enjoy this without reading it, this narration will absolutely get the job done.

So for the book and the narration a solid 4 of 5 stars.

    "Terrible reader"

Terrible reader. Mispronunciation and stilted performance make it difficult to listen to. But good story. Read it yourself. Save money.

    "A sweet, heart-warming story"
What did you love best about Caught Running?

The characters. AR and MU once again created characters that are easy to fall love. Brandon and Jake are just under Ty and Zane as my favorite AR/MU characters. Caught Running is just a sweet story about two guys who fall in love. No external conflicts, no internal conflicts either. It's a story about how they get together, fall in love and live in love.

    Any additional comments?

I love this book. I first read it and then had to get the audiobook because I loved it so much. The negative reviews about the narrator gave me pause, but ultimately I was able to overlook his weird narration choices because of the story and characters.

"A GREAT love story. Well worth the time and money."
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes. It is simply a good story. Well written, with likable characters that have real world problems.

What did you like best about this story?

The almost "fish out of water" part about Brandon becoming a coach at the beginning of the book.

What does Jeff Gelder bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Jeff is a great narrator. He brings an almost indescribable individuality to his characters. In my eyes the narration is more important than the story, and Jeff Gelder hits the nail on the head every time.

If you could take any character from Caught Running out to dinner, who would it be and why?

Jake. He just seems like more "my type" than Brandon or any of the minor characters.

    Any additional comments?

A+ narration of an A+ story.

    "The Best of the Best!"
    Any additional comments?

Roux and Urban are two of the best authors of M/M romance today, (although I understand they're not collaborating anymore) and Caught Running is my favorite of their books. The inside information we have from the two guys, knowing that they are each hot for the other makes the tension just a little bit spicier. We're about half way through the story before they finally hook up, but its told so well that you don't realize how much suspense you are in.

The only slight draw back is the narration. There are many mispronunciations and odd inflections but they're easy to get passed, except the word Mischievous,
(Not mischeeveeus) its a pet peeve of mine and until I listened to the audio version I hadn't noticed how many times it is used in this book. That one thing aside, I highly recommend this book for a light bit listening enjoyment.

    "Not the best recording"

At one point there was a loud rustling of papers shifting in the background. Sometimes I could hear the narrator breathing (I usually don't hear that on other audio books).

The narrator made no attempt to differentiate the voices of the characters and it took over a chapter to get used to his fast reading style.

This is one of my favorite stories but you can tell it was early in the authors' collaboration. They certainly worked out the kinks in theCut & Run series.
