Roby succeeds with Casting The First Stone

Kimberla Lawson Roby explores the lives of the church leaders who struggle with their emotions and reactions and the impact of their choices on those closest to them (family and church members). She shows the reader the differences between those who stand in scripture, and those who live as hypocrites, and how what is in the dark finally comes to light. The author vividly paints the emotions of each character who is casting the first stone. A very good and interesting read.

What a great book

My niece recommended I listen to this book, and I usually listen to murder, mystery, etc. This book kept me listening for hours at a time and I was surprised by the beginning, middle and end! The ending was superb because it opens your eyes to one's own spirituality and relationship with God, family and friends. This book is definitely a must read/listen regardless of what genre you prefer to listen to...it will keep you on your toes at all times. GREAT BOOK!

The God piece was missing

I was disappointed in a protagonist that didn't pray or read the word during her ordeal. It was realistic, I know this happened, but prayer would have given her the support and insight she lacked

By far the WORST story I have listened to to date!

This is the first time I was honestly looking for a refund button. Everything about this book irritated me...from the narrator sounding like she had a mouth full of spit at all times, to the overly drawn out details of meaningless things, to the weird character developement for most and the lack there of for others, to the too good to be true secondary story that came out of this disaster of a novel. I am honestly SO upset that this book cost as much as it did and even more upset at myself for listening to it all the way through. The unbelievable amount of nagging with no action that the main character did for 30 chapters was unequivocally unrealistic for any woman- let alone a black women and the author did such a disservice to her to even portray her in such a way.

Bottom line, for 30.chapters you get the same looooooong drawn out storyline, then for 2 chapters you get something that is intended to make you feel like your time before this has not been completely wasted to then being rushed through the the dumbest "plot twist" ever.

This was my first time reading one of this author's books, and while I try to give people more than one chance, her writing style is just not up to par with any of the audiobooks I have listened to lately so it is looking like a one and done for me.
