"Much better than the film."
Top five out of all audiobook listened to so far.
Carrie herself. trapped in the body of an adolescent girl, tortured by her estranged mother and school friends who as we all know can be horrible in themselves.
Excellent choice of narrator. Sissy brought out all the feeling behind the characters portrayed in the book. Obviously seeing Sissy as Carrie in the film helped however Sissy brought to the book a professionalism that was believable.
The point where Carrie prepares for the Prom attends the dance and naturally fits in until the events that brought forward the catastrophe.
Definitely worth listening to this book. The story brings to the reader the tale of a young girl persecuted for the way she was brought up through no fault of her own and then takes matters into her own hands in a devastating manner.
"Good story, but not so horrifying"
I had quite high expectations for this book, that's probably why I was a little disappointed. The story is, without a doubt, original and a bit addictive, but it didn't give me the chills. I hoped for a good old horror story, but it was more a description of a tragedy with quotes from different books about telekinesis.
But don't get me wrong, it was worth the listen! I love King, but it wasn't as horrifying as some of his other stories.
"Classic Horror Story"
Everyone knows the story, it's been adapted at least 3 times as far as I'm aware. Notjing compares to Stephen King's imaginative account of the Carror White affair.
"A real horror classic."
this really is a classic book for this genre and is much better than any of the films based on this story. It's kings debut novel and it has been highly influential and a must read for any hardcore horror fan.
The narration and audio quality are both good.
Such a great story. It's so lovely to hear Sissy Spacek's voice. Almost makes you want to cry, she puts so much emotion into the reading.
"One of my favourite books, and favourite audio exp"
Yes, because it is one of my favourite books and I enjoy revisiting it.
Carrie is, because whilst she does go on to do some very horrific things, she is very sympathetic because of how badly she's been treated by others.
Being the actress who played Carrie on film, she has an affinity for the character that shines through
The initial scenes of Carrie's bullying are quite sad, and realistic.
This is one of those books that everyone, particularly young women, should read at least once.
