Thomas Kydd, a hero of Trafalgar, holds the glory of being Post-Captain of the 32-gun frigate, L'Aurore. A Caribbean posting seems a welcome respite for the war hero, but when more and more merchantmen begin vanishing from the sea, fear starts to spread. Kydd must embark on a dangerous game of espionage in order to destroy this new and terrible danger to the Empire.

"Stockwin's writing is enriched by his own experiences in the Royal Navy, which gives scenes of fighting and tempest an authenticity to delight anyone who shares his passion for the sea." (Daily Telegraph)
"Paints a vivid picture of life aboard the mighty ship-of-the-line" (Daily Express)
Currently a local truck driver who has hours to listen to my audio books. I am hooked, some of my fellow drivers enjoy them also
It was a great mystery how the French was out smarting the Royal Navy
I enjoyed the recovery of Thomas's servant Tiito, form the planter who wouldn't give him back
Without a doubt Mr Rodska is one of the true professional who brings life to his characters in such a way that makes listening almost spell bounding. Keep up the good work
Near the end when the men came forward in Cpt Kidds defense. The old admiral handled it in a way that touched my heart
Look forward to reading the next one audible puts out. Mr Stockwin has written some winners so far and we look forward to more
"He's not Kydding!"
This series simply continues to deliver high quality entertainment. It remains full of thoroughly researched plots and information. Christian Rodska is still the perfect narrator for it and I even enjoyed the author's notes, especially the glossary!
Simply put this is a top quality series of historical naval fiction and the quality has been remarkably consistent from book one to this.
the story is not too far fetched, it kept me interested throughout. i would recommend the kydd series.
"Good sea story"
An enjoyable story and the narration keeps the attention and interest throughout.
It is engaging and descriptive, it felt like I was there, especially the battle scenes.
