Publisher's summary

NOW A MAJOR MOTION PICTURE • From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Party Crasher and Love Your Life comes a novel with the same wicked humor, buoyant charm, and optimism as her beloved Shopaholic series.

“Sophie Kinsella keeps her finger on the cultural pulse, while leaving me giddy with laughter.”—Jojo Moyes, author of The Giver of Stars and The Last Letter from Your Lover

Meet Emma Corrigan, a young woman with a huge heart, an irrepressible spirit, and a few little secrets:

Secrets from her boyfriend: I’ve always thought Connor looks a bit like Ken. As in Barbie and Ken.

Secrets from her mother: I lost my virginity in the spare bedroom with Danny Nussbaum while Mum and Dad were downstairs watching Ben-Hur.

Secrets she wouldn’t share with anyone in the world: I have no idea what NATO stands for. Or even what it is.

Until she spills them all to a handsome stranger on a plane. At least, she thought he was a stranger. . . .

But come Monday morning, Emma’s office is abuzz about the arrival of Jack Harper, the company’s elusive CEO. Suddenly Emma is face-to-face with the stranger from the plane, a man who knows every single humiliating detail about her. Things couldn’t possibly get worse. Or could they?

Praise for Can You Keep a Secret?

“Venturing beyond Saks and Barney’s, the bestselling author of Confessions of a Shopaholic and Shopaholic Ties the Knot entertains readers with backstabbing office shenanigans, competition, scandal, love and sex. . . . Kinsella’s down-to-earth protagonist is sure to have readers sympathizing and doubled over in laughter.”Publishers Weekly

“If laughing out loud in public places is your bag, be sure to pick up [Can You Keep a Secret?]. Heroine Emma Corrigan is going to be your new best friend.”Boston Herald

“Kinsella’s timing is so perfect, her instincts so spot-on, that it’s easy to . . . devour the book like the guilty pleasure it is.”Miami Herald

“Chick lit at its lightest and breeziest . . . filled with fabulous clothes, stalwart friends, and snotty enemies waiting to be taken down a peg.”Orlando Sentinel

“[Kinsella’s] dialogue is sharp, even her minor characters are well drawn, and her parody of the marketing world is very funny.”Washington Post Book World

“[A] comedic frenzy of ill-fated events . . . punchy . . . fast-moving.”Rocky Mountain News

I did not want it to end

I really enjoyed the story, as unbelievable as it is. Kinsella not only can put a sentence together but has a knack for making the reader care for the characters. If what you are in the mood for is a sweet and funny story, go for it.

Stream of Consciousness

This was the first of the Kinsella books I listened to. My husband even enjoyed it when he heard the reader. It's an easy listen with an insight into the life of young, urban Londonite girls.

Very entertaining and intriguing story

Loved the main character and the people around her. Not sure about the narrator but it works OK.

Thrilling, exciting light read

This was a surprise to me since I usually don't come across this kind of literature. The lead character clumsiness was really funny. The narrator's UK accent (which I generally don't enjoy) in this particular case made sense and perfectly complemented the character.

Yes it is a fun, and romantic story

What was one of the most memorable moments of Can You Keep a Secret??

I loved the moment on the airplane when she thought they were going to crash.

What about Kate Reading’s performance did you like?

I loved her voice both as Emma and Jack.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Close to the end I loved how Jack started blurting out all of these facts about himself.

Any additional comments?

I love Sophie Kinsella

Grow a pair!

I found myself getting so frustrated with the main character for always second guessing herself that I wanted to reach through the phone and strangle her. This book left me feeling like I wanted to scream. Good narration though.

Chapters were not lined up.

Why didn't they start each chapter of the book to go along with the Audible chapter? During the Audible Chapter 12, Chapter 22 of the book started - in the middle of the Audible chapter. If there's a chapter I like, I have to search to find it.
Also, Emma is 25 but the woman who voiced her was obviously older.

Funny and lighthearted.

Can you keep a secret? is a funny and light hearted book. I have read the paperback version, and also enjoyed the audio performance.

It is an endearing story of a twenty-something woman finding her way in the world. With the unexpected and unusual entrance of a powerful businessman, her life starts to take turns that initially seem disastrous, but actually aid in her transformation. I would recommend if you enjoy books with uplifting messages, and don't take themselves too seriously.
