"Phillips has created a very modern and textured tale: witty, moving, passionate and tender." (Publishers Weekly)
"Stunningly vivid descriptions and some of her most complex protagonists to date." (Library Journal)
I was not able to finish this book. The plot was lame, the characters were unlikeable and cliche and the sex scenes made me cringe they were so badly written. Sorry. I tried to like them. I hate to give anyone a bad rating, but I just did not like this book.
I am a middle school reading teacher who loves to show students the wonder and joy of reading.
I thought this was a fun story. I love this writer and the narrator is my favorite. A very enjoyable tale.
This book was awesome. I really felt like I was in Italy experiencing the joys and sorrows and feelings of the characters. The sex "scenes" were hot yet tastefully presented.
I simply HATED this book. The only reason I finished it was that I had no other audiobooks on my mp3 player at the time. Awful. Terrible.
I actually had to FORCE myself to finish it. And it was ONLY because they will not post a review on a book unless you finish the complete book. So I did listened to the entire book...
The first negative was the narrator. She voice was a bit too mature to be the voice of the main character who was in her mid 30's. The second negative was when the female narrator spoke in the male voice, it was just plain distracting and just plain silly.
I wanted to like that character but I didn't find her too likable.
I do not recommend this book.
