Darren and Jenny are a hard working couple at the end of their rope. Out of money and out of options, they decide drastic measures are needed. They are robbing a bank when things go horribly wrong.
Gunshots are fired and, in order to escape, they must kidnap the hapless bank manager. Unfortunately for them, the manager is not what he seems. The kidnapping unleashes a chain of events they never imagined in their worst nightmares.

Wow it's a surprise when the titled bank robbery is secondary and the least bloody event in the book. I'm just sick and weird enough to actually enjoy this gore fest. Saying this was over the top is a weak description but I was surprised by the twists and decided to just listen. Not for the faint of heart! I've had this in the wish list for a while and love to get a book for review. If you enjoy violence (check), gore (eh), and unrealistic twists (kinda) you'll love it too.
I love audiobooks!!!
I loved the strong female lead. Even when she was scared to death, she still fought back!
The whole book! Seriously, there ere only a few calm moments, like when the police showed up, and when she walked into the ocean.
No, but I would listen to another.
Serial Killer Salad, or Twisted Takeover?
This is shockingly gory. There were moments that I had to say "oh my God!" out loud, and walk away. The narrator did a fantastic job, and I especially liked his voice for Duncan. It just screamed creepy serial killer!
A fun story with a great amount of gore and splatter. with some cool characters and an interesting twist or two. Where it kind of lost me was in the dialogue. The narration was handled well, even if the accents made my smile a bit.
It makes me happy to wake up everyday and look forward to listening. Many times I listen while doing artwork. I find it very relaxing.
I would only try another book by Tim Miller if he pinky swore that he'd not write another book like this one. It was way more gory than I expected.
I'll listen to Joe Hempel narrate again. I like his work and he's a great narrator. I've listened to other audiobooks narrated by him and he has an excellent voice.
Something to make me unhear this book.
Yes and I'll say the first hour wasn't too bad but after that...not because of the narration but the story, I want to go scrub my ears out.

The story was very interesting, started out fast and keeps your attention. It did seem very predictable though, could have been a little longer. It's a little bit gory but I enjoyed listening.narrated by Joe Hempel.

Going by the title you may think this is a book all about a bank robbery, but it is actually only a minor part of the plot.
Darren and Jenny have been struggling financially since Darren lost his job. Desperately out of options and forced to move in with Jenny’s brother Michael, an ex-con who still owes money to some shady people, they are easily persuaded to rob a bank. Unfortunately, the raid does not quite go as planned. They are forced to kidnap the bank manager in order to make their getaway. But the bank manager is not innocent either. Far from it. On top of that, the people Michael is indebted to, want their money. I can’t really give any more content without spoiling the entire plot. But what ensues is an excellent horror story with fast-paced action. It is dark and it is twisted. The violence is extremely graphic and gruesome as you would expect from a horror movie. Definitely not for the faint of heart!
This was a quick, easy listen at just over 2 hours. It held my attention throughout. The characters seemed authentic. Considering this was a very short story, I guess it is rather difficult to create more depth, so it was fine as an entertaining listen. The duration of the audiobook was actually just right. I enjoyed the gory details for a couple of hours but any longer would have become too much of the graphic violence. Though totally unrealistic, I really enjoyed the vigilante ending.
The narrator, Joe Hempel, has a nice voice that is pleasant to listen to, though it took me a little while to get used to the voice he used for Jenny. There could have been more distinction between the different voices used. Pacing, intonation and accents were fine. There were no issues with the production.
Recommended if you enjoy extreme blood splatter and horror. I would certainly be willing to read more by Tim Miller and/or listen to other audiobooks narrated by Joe Hempel.

What I liked the most about it was the fact that the author was willing to go all over hell and create crazy situations and characters. What I liked the least is that in the short period of time in which they existed within the story there wasn't a great deal of opportunity for them to get anywhere.
I have not listened to his stories before, I have read a few and this would be one of the lower rated but still not bad by any means. He's just done better.
I'm not entirely sure, I think it might have been more the fact that he wasn't really suited to the story than any actual problem. Perhaps giving the characters a little more differentiation but as someone from the outside looking in I'm not sure how to do that.
Not really, but in this case that's a pretty good thing because I'm not sure if I'd want to do whatever it would tell me to do.
I received the code for this story for free in exchange for an honest review. I will look into more of both Tim Miller and Joe Hempel but perhaps not in combination with one another.
When I discovered Audible it was like discovering love :-) I love receiving codes and in return I post reviews. Wife, and mom of two,
I think the author, Tim Miller exceeded his expectations when writing this excellent horror story. It captured my attention from start to finish. This is the first time I've listened to anything by this author but I'm sure I will look for more books now. This is a very quick story, just a little over 2 hours but it's definitely worth the listen. The story is bloody but entertaining also.
Joe Hempel did a great job with his narration of the story. He kept me immersed and on the edge of my seat from start to finish. He did a good job distinguishing the characters accent and voices. I was able to identify who was speaking throughout the story. I received this audio from the author/narrator in exchange for an unbiased review through Audiobook Blast.
I am an avid reader and listener of horror and thrillers with the occasional SciFi and crime noir. I review on Amazon, GR, NG & Audible.
You would think that a botched robbery with a fatality and a hostage situation would be enough bad luck for Darren and Jennie for one day. Not even close. Let the craziness commence and let the blood flow.
At a little over 2 hours - A quick and bloody ride that was easy to listen to and entertaining.
*I received an audible review edition of this title in exchange for an honest review and this is it.
Bloody Bank Heist is a novelette about a hapless couple who decide to rob a bank yet pick the wrong victim to take hostage. I won't spoil it, but the word bloody is apropo, but not for the reason you think. Fun creative storyline, but way too gory for me to finish.
Nothing similar to this book!
I love Joe Hempel's voice, which is so versatile.
3 words--fresh, versatile, clear.
I found the twist fun, but I would have made this "victim" a more innocent character. I HATED his persona, thought it was unecessary to the story. It was the reason I gave the story a 1.
