I'm a 30-something paranormal, mystery, and humor enthusiast. For me, the main character is the most important part of a book.

    "Easy, breezy, beautiful..."

That's the phrase that comes to mind when I think of this series. It has a little bit of everything to please everyone. Some romance, action, danger, a little witchcraft, crazy family. This would be a hilarious sit-com (minus the impending doom in each book).

    "Easy listen"

The second book starts off with the ending of the first book which would help if it was a while in between listening to them. I didn't enjoy this one as much as the first one. I guess it was because I couldn't get into Ivy's character. I just didn't find her antics that funny for her age. That aside I did enjoy the rest of the characters and did find at least a few funny spots. I really enjoyed finding out who the real guardian was.

"Terrible narrator!! Very annoying to listen to..."
    What disappointed you about Bloodstone?

I like this genre and the story wasn't bad, reading it in my Kindle app was much better than listening to it. I got the entire series before listening to any of it...no way will I be able to tolerate this narrator through the whole series! I'll have to wait until I have time to read them rather than listen to them.

If you’ve listened to books by Barbra Annino before, how does this one compare?

I listened to the first book in this series...equally annoying.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

She was truly awful, monotone, emotionless, and with no inflections. Speed reading in emotionless monotone is VERY annoying!!

What character would you cut from Bloodstone?

The characters were okay, I'd cut the narrator! She is impossible to listen to!!

"A bit of a snooze fest."

If it wasn't for the fact that I need follow up from the 1st story, I wouldn't have bothered.
I'm not sure curiosity is enough to make me spend another credit on the next book.

    "Disappointing Follow-up"
    What disappointed you about Bloodstone?

The story was disjointed and felt contrived. The Big Reveal felt poorly conceived and researched and the character interactions were hard for me to believe. The first book I enjoyed and thought that the follow-up would be just as good if not (hopefully) better. This felt hurried and sloppy.

Has Bloodstone turned you off from other books in this genre?

I'm afraid to pursue anymore. I'm a huge fan of Juliet Blackwell's series, which got me into this. I also love Charlaine Harris. I've been burned on two different new series now and am waiting to risk it again.

What three words best describe Amy Rubinate’s voice?

    Feminine, amber, fine

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

There were some funny lines of dialogue... it wasn't so painful that I couldn't finish it, but I was really disappointed

    "Light fluffy & fun"

I love how light, fun & easy to listen to this series of books is but if (like me) you can't stand cliffhangers, this series is going to drive you to distraction. I hope the author grows out of it but at this point every book ends with a cliffhanger & so do most of the chapters....
