"Whoever said a straightened hand was more dramatic than a healed heart, anyway?"
A young orphaned boy was abandoned and raised in an Ethiopian monastery. He has never seen outside its walls - at least, not the way most people see. Now he must flee or die.
But the world beyond is hardly ready for a boy like Caleb. When relief expert Jason Marker agrees to rescue Caleb from the monastery, he unwittingly opens humanity’s doors to an incredible journey filled with political intrigue and peril. Jason and Leiah - the French-Canadian nurse who escapes the monastery with him - quickly realize Caleb’s supernatural power to heal. But so do the boy’s enemies, who will stop at nothing to destroy him. Jason and Leiah fight for Caleb’s survival while the world erupts in debate over the source of the boy’s power.
In the end nothing can prepare them for what they discover.

Retired CFO, Army wife, Mom of five, Grandma of six, two sons who served in combat, love to read books that reflect my values and faith, love mysteries, historical, military stories, and books that don't waste my time . . . if it doesn't have an ending that was worth the wait, I'm not a happy camper.
I like faith based fiction, and this one is particularly good. I appreciate that it depicts religious leaders as human beings, flawed and not always as they appear to be or should be. Evil is present in all places, even churches and sometimes ESPECIALLY churches, when those who call themselves Christians fail to humble themselves and instead become like everyone else around them, seeking all the things that this world offers, instead of walking with Him. It is a daily struggle to follow Christ, and we fail many, many times. But as Caleb said, the healing of a heart is as much a miracle as regaining sight or healing a shriveled limb.
You know a man writes by the Spirit when after reading his books you want to spend time with the Spirit. Dekker is always pointing to Jesus...His life, His love. A real blessing this book.
I enjoyed it a lot. Great performace. I like the way he explains that we can not limit God!
He can and does anything He wishes! I always learn from his books... Recommend it!
This is my new favorite Ted Dekker book. I have read many of his novels and have enjoyed all of them, however, this one is particularly good. Through the compelling characters, it reveals some of the mystery of the working of the Holy Spirit and the power of the Church. I feel moved and empowered after reading this story. Don't miss it!
The character development was excellent.
Blessed Child ranks 2 in my top 10!
The plot had mystery, romance and inspiration!
Benjamin L. Darcie's performance was profound! His ability to change his voice to the character kept the plot intriguing!
Inspiring and thought-provoking!
I would highly recommend this book!
Don't know I never read the book.
At times it did.
I enjoyed the male voices but his female sounded like a drag queen. Should have a woman reading the female roles. His higher pitched woman's voice often threw me out of the story. sorry.
I did find that I wanted to get back to the story.
Words spoken in season is like a fresh rain.
Loved the book. Ted Dekker & Bill Bright were surely used by God in this epic performance.
My thoughts: THANK YOU!!!
This story touched my heart and blessed my soul! It is difficult to put into words just how special it is. I will definitely be listening to many more books by Ted Dekker.
Thank you God for encouraging Ted Dekker to write this book, I'm so Blessed to have experienced this event..
The focus was on the power of God
Caleb, the innocent of a child
"Inspirin, Glorifies Jesus!"
I enjoyed this very much, and desire to now spend more time in His presence. And renew our minds so that we may not doubt but have the faith that can move mountains
"what a great book"
it was catching all the way through
there are plots to this story that are very believable
not listened to others
give it a try it is very fast moving from the start and a little adventure along the way.
"Amazing story of God's power"
Definitely. Spiritually uplifting
Jason and Leah's experience of the kingdom. I wanted to join them, I want to see what they saw.
He brought the book to life. I could picture each character as he described them.
I laughed, but it also made me think about my walk with God.
I can't wait to read Book 2, I have already bought it.
