Publisher's Summary

"Whoever said a straightened hand was more dramatic than a healed heart, anyway?"

A young orphaned boy was abandoned and raised in an Ethiopian monastery. He has never seen outside its walls - at least, not the way most people see. Now he must flee or die.

But the world beyond is hardly ready for a boy like Caleb. When relief expert Jason Marker agrees to rescue Caleb from the monastery, he unwittingly opens humanity’s doors to an incredible journey filled with political intrigue and peril. Retired CFO, Army wife, Mom of five, Grandma of six, two sons who served in combat, love to read books that reflect my values and faith, love mysteries, historical, military stories, and books that don't waste my time . . . if it doesn't have an ending that was worth the wait, I'm not a happy camper.

"The Miracle of Healing the Human Heart"

I like faith based fiction, and this one is particularly good. I appreciate that it depicts religious leaders as human beings, flawed and not always as they appear to be or should be. Evil is present in all places, even churches and sometimes ESPECIALLY churches, when those who call themselves Christians fail to humble themselves and instead become like everyone else around them, seeking all the things that this world offers, instead of walking with Him. It is a daily struggle to follow Christ, and we fail many, many times. But as Caleb said, the healing of a heart is as much a miracle as regaining sight or healing a shriveled limb.

    "Don't Miss This Book!"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

This is my new favorite Ted Dekker book. I have read many of his novels and have enjoyed all of them, however, this one is particularly good. Through the compelling characters, it reveals some of the mystery of the working of the Holy Spirit and the power of the Church. I feel moved and empowered after reading this story. Don't miss it!

What did you like best about this story?

    The character development was excellent.

"Narration can make or break a story"
If you could sum up Blessed Child in three words, what would they be?

    Intresting, entertaining, thought provoking

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

    yes.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

Darcie did a ok job. I had trouble hearing a Man's try to mimic that of a woman. The description of the child in this books says He is 12, but the voice and narration made him sound MUCH MUCH younger, like 5. That threw me off. The voice he chose for the boy was too young.

    "AWESOME!"

I can't believe I've had this in my wish list for so long and just now purchased and listened to it. I love this book. It is everything I love. Spiritual, no bad language, good action, suspense of the best kind. I laughed. I cried. Then rejoiced. I truly believe I learned a message in this book. I've already purchased the sequel. 💕

".My first experience reading Ted Dekker."
Would you consider the audio edition of Blessed Child to be better than the print version?

Don't know I never read the book.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

    At times it did.

What does Benjamin L. Darcie bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I enjoyed the male voices but his female sounded like a drag queen. Should have a woman reading the female roles. His higher pitched woman's voice often threw me out of the story. sorry.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I did find that I wanted to get back to the story.
