But the world beyond is hardly ready for a boy like Caleb. When relief expert Jason Marker agrees to rescue Caleb from the monastery, he unwittingly opens humanity’s doors to an incredible journey filled with political intrigue and peril. Jason and Leiah - the French-Canadian nurse who escapes the monastery with him - quickly realize Caleb’s supernatural power to heal. "Don't Miss This Book!"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

This is my new favorite Ted Dekker book. I have read many of his novels and have enjoyed all of them, however, this one is particularly good. Through the compelling characters, it reveals some of the mystery of the working of the Holy Spirit and the power of the Church. I feel moved and empowered after reading this story. Don't miss it!

What did you like best about this story?

    The character development was excellent.

Retired CFO, Army wife, Mom of five, Grandma of six, two sons who served in combat, love to read books that reflect my values and faith, love mysteries, historical, military stories, and books that don't waste my time . . . if it doesn't have an ending that was worth the wait, I'm not a happy camper.

"The Miracle of Healing the Human Heart"

I like faith based fiction, and this one is particularly good. I appreciate that it depicts religious leaders as human beings, flawed and not always as they appear to be or should be. Evil is present in all places, even churches and sometimes ESPECIALLY churches, when those who call themselves Christians fail to humble themselves and instead become like everyone else around them, seeking all the things that this world offers, instead of walking with Him. It is a daily struggle to follow Christ, and we fail many, many times. But as Caleb said, the healing of a heart is as much a miracle as regaining sight or healing a shriveled limb.

    "So full of God..."

You know a man writes by the Spirit when after reading his books you want to spend time with the Spirit. Dekker is always pointing to Jesus...His life, His love. A real blessing this book.

I enjoyed the book all the way through. This is the first time I have read Ted Dekker and I listened to both of the Caleb books, and liked them both.

    "A Modern Parable"

We no longer expect to see the power of Jesus unfurled in our modern world, but He is still all powerful. Renew your first love through this modern day parable.

    Any additional comments?

This story provides Christians and non-Christians alike a fascinating imaging of how God can still work in our physical world. The last chapters could easily offend non-Christians, and the writer's story would have been equally powerful without the evangelical proclamation. But set hat aside and this is a very enjoyable read.
