Publisher's Summary

For fans of Stephen King, David Gerrold, and Richard Matheson, picture this: The world is being eaten by monsters and there's nothing you can do about it.

Four weeks ago...

Everything seemed fine.

Life was as we knew it.

Nothing was out of place.

Three weeks ago...

The first tiny creature, no bigger than a thumb, crawled out of the dark loamy earth of an Iowa corn field.

Two weeks ago...

Creatures came from the ground in every country, from the smallest maggot-sized killer, to Cadillac-sized devourers, each one eating everything in sight, their apparent desire, to cleanse the earth of any vestige of mankind.

Two days ago...

Our hero, Buckly Adamski, watched the Governor of North Carolina start to dance and go crazy on the television, it wasn't until the very end that the television announcer blew his brains out over the impossibility of it all.

Yesterday...

Planes crashed to the ground, the Eiffel Tower crumbled, trains stopped running, the power went out, and the entire human race (what was left of it) paused to take a breath, wondering if it would be their last.

Tonight...

Buckley gathered those he could save in the penthouse of an old building in downtown Wilmington, North Carolina. Monsters are eating the city around them. They know they must leave. They know they have to make a run for it. But they also don't want to die.

And there is an answer, but it will come from the craziest of places.

This audiobook also contains an essay called "The True Adventures of a Monster Screenplay in B-Movie Wonderland", which tells the tale of how the screenplay based on this novel was almost sold to Wesley Snipes, with many of the industry's top horror movie stars attached to the film.

What the Critics Say

"Blaze of Glory turns the Monster-Apocalypse subgenre on its gory ear. It's funny, suspenseful and resolutely quirky, with a great cast of characters." (Jack Ketchum, author of The Girl Next Door)

"Weston is one of the best authors of our generation." (Brian Keene, Bram Stoker Award-winning author The Rising and Ghoul)

"Weston Ochse is to horror what Bradbury is to science fiction - an artist whose craft, stories, and voice are so distinct and mesmerizing that you can't help but be enthralled.” (Dani Kollin, Prometheus Award-winning author of The Unincorporated Man)

I'm a horror nut! Zombies in particular! Epidemics, end of all things! Also enjoyed Game of thrones very much!

"Hate to say it but don't waste a credit."
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Diff Narrative approach? More effort put into writing of the story? Admittedly new interesting ideas which I could have seen myself as a listener wanting, almost begging to become submersed into but the writer never really put any effort into getting into the multiple roads this story could have been taken down, such as background of the characters, background of the multiple types of Invaders, the invaders history, where they came from, anything... Seemed like either a severely cut down version of a interesting story or a quickly thrown together book meant to be a quick read, making a quick buck. As I said It saddens me because this seems like it could have been a decent story if more effort or time was allowed. Also narration made it very hard to even understand who was speaking during character conversations mainly due to the way it was read. Just nothing I can really say good about this book and I hate to be that critical of someone's work but I hope this writer will actually take the criticism & do something positive with what I felt could have been a different Idea with many ways to take the story.

Has Blaze of Glory turned you off from other books in this genre?

Nothing would turn me off to this Genre!

How could the performance have been better?

Narration, time and effort into character and story building

What character would you cut from Blaze of Glory?

None of them really made any impact on me to even say I remember them besides "Crack Smoking Granny" don't lose her!

    Any additional comments?

Bck to drawing board with these Ideas? I'd like to retread a new version of this book either rewritten or Uncut.. Because again ideas show ton of potential

I bought this in whispersinc and was willing to blame the deadpan narration until I tried to just read it for myself. A stupid story that could have been great. I was very disappointed in this book.
