Publisher's summary

Welcome to Blackwood Farm: soaring white columns, spacious drawing rooms, sun-drenched gardens, and a dark strip of the dense Sugar Devil Swamp. This is the world of Quinn Blackwood, a brilliant young man haunted since birth by a mysterious doppelganger, a spirit known as Goblin, a spirit from a dream world that Quinn can't escape. When Quinn is made a vampire, his doppelganger becomes even more vampiric and terrifying than Quinn himself.

As the novel moves backward and forward in time, from Quinn's boyhood on Blackwood Farm to present-day New Orleans, from ancient Athens to 19th-century Naples, Quinn seeks out the legendary Vampire Lestat in the hope of freeing himself from the specter that draws him inexorably back to Sugar Devil Swamp and the explosive secrets it holds.

A story of youth and promise, of loss and the search for love, of secrets and destiny, Blackwood Farm is Anne Rice at her mesmerizing best.

A bit fantastic, but still entrancing!

The narration was exquisite and the story entrancing. Rice does it again!
I would recommend this to any fan of her books!

bite me

What was one of the most memorable moments of Blackwood Farm?

It would be inappropriate to type that here, If you read the book you'll know why. Plus the spoiler would just be rude.

Any additional comments?

Anne Rice has done it again. If you haven't read any of the Vampire Chronicles you should start at the beginning with Interview With a Vampire and work your way to this book, also take the time to read her witch series starting with The Witching Hour, Because they all play into this novel and you will understand the subject matter allot better if you know the whole background. These books are not for children and have strong sexual content. If you have gotten this far, I guarantee you will not be able to put this down. At least once you will gasp, And you will be left longing for the immortal kiss.

Love Ann Rice

I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 because it is such a rich book I wish it had been done in the style of an old radio drama, different voices, sound effects, etc.
However, that not being the case, it was honestly a fine narration and almost possible to imagine the different characters because the change in voice was done rather well.

I can listen to this book over and over again

How do I begin… This might be the best book I have ever had the pleasure reading/listening to. The characters in the book or so rich and full of life I’m heartbroken when it’s over and always tempted to start it over again immediately as this is my third time listening.

as always, I need more

I was absolutely completely enthralled to the end. sad when it was over and I couldn't wait to download the next book instantly when I'm reading in rice I always wonder what's going on with the characters when I'm not reading I'm desperate to get back to their world it's so rich and full and very developed the characters are something that inspire such deep emotion for them. I'm so grateful that Anne Rice started this series it's terrible fun to visit their world

Great story, great characters

I am an Anne Rice fan. This book even for how long it is left me wanting for it not to end! I do wish I would have read Merrick and the Fairfield witches first so I had some background but that did not make me feel like I didn't know what was going on. I could listen to this all over again.

The story ended abruptly. For this reason, I gave 4 stars for overall & the story. The performance was true Anne Rice.
