Publisher's summary

Twenty years ago, a boy named Jack Sawyer traveled to a parallel universe called the Territories to save his mother and her “Twinner” from an agonizing death that would have brought cataclysm to the other world. Now Jack is a retired Los Angeles homicide detective living in the nearly nonexistent hamlet of Tamarack, Wisconsin. He has no recollection of his adventures in the Territories, and he was compelled to leave the police force when a happenstance event threatened to awaken those long suppressed and dangerous memories.

When a series of gruesome murders occur in western Wisconsin that are reminiscent of those committed several decades earlier, Jack’s buddy, the local chief of police, begs Jack to help find the killer. But are these new killings merely the work of a disturbed individual, or has a mysterious and malignant force been unleashed in this quiet town? What causes Jack’s inexplicable waking dreams - if that is what they are - of robins’ eggs and red feathers? As these cryptic messages becomes impossible to ignore, Jack is drawn back to the Territories and to his own hidden past.

good, but unnecessarily long

Very slow start, but strong ending. They definitely could've cut out 6 hours of content without anyone noticing.

An epic tale.

Should people have a stronger will. This should go down as one of the last great ones of this age.

Fantastically horrifying!

This was a edge of your seat, stand up and cheer for the hero, having you checking the dark corners of your room- type of novel! It was written in so much detail that I felt like I was in the territories fight for my life along side the captures. I would recommend this book to all horror fans who don’t have sensitive stomachs.

Jan

Loved this sequel. It does ramble at times but this is the style of the man. The narration was flawless in my opinion

I had no clue

I didn't know this was going to have anything to do with the gunslinger! It was rough to follow at the beginning, but I loved the story. So happy to hear of the gunslinger and the dark tower again.

Ranges between the disgusting and the sublime,

With extra emphasis on the disgusting, and on horror. Personally, I would prefer less of the disgusting and less whore, but the execution is for the most part so well that I enjoyed the book anyway. There are some places where the book is vague and kind of druggie. Character development is excellent and Stephen King Is certainly talented at describing experiences vividly and viscerally.

I enjoyed this audiobook. SK & PS do a sweet job with memorable characters old and new. Frank’s performance was awesome.
