Publisher's summary

Twenty years ago, a boy named Jack Sawyer traveled to a parallel universe called the Territories to save his mother and her “Twinner” from an agonizing death that would have brought cataclysm to the other world. Now Jack is a retired Los Angeles homicide detective living in the nearly nonexistent hamlet of Tamarack, Wisconsin. He has no recollection of his adventures in the Territories, and he was compelled to leave the police force when a happenstance event threatened to awaken those long suppressed and dangerous memories.

When a series of gruesome murders occur in western Wisconsin that are reminiscent of those committed several decades earlier, Jack’s buddy, the local chief of police, begs Jack to help find the killer. But are these new killings merely the work of a disturbed individual, or has a mysterious and malignant force been unleashed in this quiet town? What causes Jack’s inexplicable waking dreams - if that is what they are - of robins’ eggs and red feathers? As these cryptic messages becomes impossible to ignore, Jack is drawn back to the Territories and to his own hidden past.

How do you say a book is too wordy?

In so glad to grow up with Jack and hear the rest of the tale, tied in with the Gunslinger. It was a wonderful Story-But Please! It got So lengthy & overwhelming with description.Even for
King or Straub it was a bit much. I found myself at times wishing to just get ON with it already. Unlike the Talisman I probably won't reread as it was a bit much. I thought I could Never say that about king .

Great Sequel! Hope a third makes it out. Please!!

Great book. Narrator was and is amazing as he was with the Talisman. I pray for a third installment in the Jack Sawyer/Talisman series. Please Mr. King, Please Mr. Straub. Love both of your work individually but together the story telling was amazing. Watching both amazing artists combine thoughts, writing style and completely different writing techniques was awesome. I found my self saying, uh oh, Steven King is at work here or this part is definitely all Peter Straub. Amazing combination of horror "King Style". While having some straight yet sometimes strange but down to earth terror and hope done by Mr. Straub. He brings it so elegantly to the table in not only this novel but in much of his other works as well.

Awesome story. Completely engrossing!

The narrator was perfect. I could actually see the story, and the story was amazing. I loved it as much as it's predecessor, The Talisman. I wished it never ending.

Love Love Love

I read the Talisman many years ago and recently
re-read it again as I absolutely loved it. It is one of my favorite Stephen King books (although I have a lot of favorites from Stephen King)!

When I noticed that there was a sequel, Black House, I immediately had to buy it (again this was several years ago). After I downloaded the Audio app and found out I get 1 free credit a month, I immediately downloaded The Talisman and loved the audio version. I couldn’t wait for the next month so I could download Black House for free as well.

The audio version is narrated by the same man who did the Talisman. I was happy about that because I really enjoyed the narrator from the Talisman.

I grew up in West DePere, Wisconsin. I recently found out, that Stephen King actually lived in West DePere between the ages of 3 to 5 I think. This really fascinated me because I love him as an author. There are so many things that I enjoyed about this book. One of them is that it took place in a town in western Wisconsin and referenced many of the cities I’ve visited and lived, especially DePere where I grew up. The writing was superb. I will continue to read it again and again. I highly recommend it!

I enjoyed Black House more than The Talisman.

Definitely a Dark Tower tie in.
I enjoyed this one a bit. Not my favorite, not bad though.
The scene in the DJs pad is probably my favorite if not the scene where Tyler defends himself.
