When the war finally ended in May 1945, Lieutenant Danny McClain made good on his promise to come back for Anya in Holland. Maybe...

...a bit too saccharin, although I enjoyed it. I was appreciative of the history surrounding war brides.

Good Read

This is far from the type of book I listen to or read
However I stumbled across it quite by accident i’m glad to say
Good insight on what it was like for some during the war
Characters were life like
The narrator did a really good job and the story was not only realistic but also hopeful it’s always difficult to write a review when you don’t want to give away too much
it’s a good read that’s all I can say and as I usually read historical or fantasy books then what can I say this has a higher rating than I would’ve rated most other books I’ve read

Very wordy

I liked the book, but found the whole description of the World Series lengthy and boring. The performance was just ok - it took time to get used to the narrator.

I love learning the history. Well written. The author made the story come to life. Superb narrator

Love, love, loved this two book series.. Supremely well written, capturing many of the hardships and overcomings of WWII.

Wonderful story laid out in 2 books

I enjoyed both of these books it makes you realize what people went through in that time. And how they overcame obstacles that we hopefully will never know

Excellent sequel.

I loved this book even more than the first. It made my mother’s life come alive. She didn’t talk much about her wait to come to America as a War Bride, or the journey over. This put me in her shoes.

Beyond the Shadow

Very enjoyable and I am sure that I will re-read it again. I loved all of the characters and the way the author skillfully wove two countries together from England to America creating a beautiful story.

Good read.

I enjoyed this book and didn't want it to end . Can't wait to read the third. Definitely enjoyed the book and can't wait to start the third book in this trilogy! 🐘

Great storyline.

I found The reader's nasal voice for Danny, Joey, and Dad to be quiite unpleasant to listen to.
