Publisher's summary

Nobody double-crosses Smoke Jensen - not if he hopes to live, that is. USA Today best-selling author William W. Johnstone's Betrayal of the Mountain Man finds the rough and tumble hero fighting through one of his deadliest plights yet. Framed for robbery and murder by a pack of low-life outlaws, Smoke is locked up and sentenced to the gallows. But no bars of iron or bonds of rope can withstand a vengeful Mountain Man.

Pleasant western type story

Written in somewhat the flare of Louis L’Amour. Grabs your interest and keeps it going.

What Happened to Sally's Wealth?

Sally's family-background is one of Shipping, Rail Road investment, and Banking Management and investing, which makes me wonder why Smoke and Sally were unable to come up with the needed $2000 payment to save the Sugarloaf Range. In the beginning of their marriage she was rich. She had enough money to establish the Big Rock Bank to help her neighbors out. The writers are not doing their research.

As for that mock trial, Smoke was presumed guilty before he entered the court room.

Oh well it's just a story; MaryK

Not a typical Smoke Jensen book

I had a hard time with this book. I am a huge fan of Smoke. The whole plot of Smoke and Sally going to lose the Sugarloaf was very far fetched for me. Seeing how Sally is a board member of the bank in Big Rock and her parents own several banks.

Don’t get me started with the “trial” of Smoke.

Good read

It was a good read. The only problem I found was the ending was a little lame.
